Obay Al-Sha'arani is a young Syrian instrumental and trip-hop electronic musician, composer and producer now based in Nicosia, Cyprus. 
He shared for HAB.B. an exclusive compilation of his first demos, a personal view onto the soundscape of the middle-east. 
Obay is now in the middle of writing his debut album.

أغنية من منطقة وادي عارة وقرى رام الله - الضفة الغربية (فلسطين). واحدة من أغاني وداع العروس التي توصَف بـ'الغريبة 'لأنها تنتقل من بلدتها وحيّزها إلى بلدة عريسها. ولا شك في أن اغتراب العروس كان له في الماضي أثرٌ شديدٌ في حياتها لأن الاتصال بينها وبين أهلها كان معدومًا تقريبًا ومقتصرًا على زيارات أيام العيد. لذا كان هذا الزواج غير مرغوب فيه، وقد تمثل ذلك بطقس وداع العروس الذي تخللتْه أغنياتٌ حزينة وبكائية، كأنّ في هذا الوداع فراقًا لا عودة بعده. ومن هنا نجد في بعض أغنيات طقس الوداع التعبير «دولة سفر دولة»، وهو تعبير يعود إلى فترة السّفر برلك، أي فترة التجنيد الإجباري في عهد الحكم العثماني، التي كان فيها الشباب الفلسطينيون وغيرهم يُجنَّدون إجبارًا من قبل الدولة العثمانية للقتال في حروب قد لا يعودون منها.

La Tetlaa'i- A song from the Wadi Ara area and the villages near Ramallah in the West Bank, Palestine. It is one of the bride's farewell songs in which the bride is referred to as a "stranger" because she moves from her hometown to the groom's hometown. The alienation of the bride had a tremendous impact on her life because communication between her and her family was restricted to holiday visits. As a result, such marriages were unwanted, and this sadness was expressed in the bride's farewell rite which is full of tear-provoking songs as if the separation of the bride were eternal—like that of a soldier going off to war.
