There seems to be a lot of heat coming from south of the equator lately, and our next Birdfeed Exclusive release adds to the flames with a smokin’ single from Brazil’s Dakar. As owner of the Clap7 label and releases on labels like Snatch, LouLou, and This Ain’t Bristol, in a short time Dakar has been rapidly making a name for himself. We’re happy to welcome him to Dirtybird with “Woobly”’s infectious bassline, one that will surely fit snug in any of your sets.

Getting ahead of ourselves and casting an eye to 2017 already, we're looking forward to our first release of that year which will be an as of yet untitled New Jackson LP. So to usher it in, NJ aka David Kitt has sent us a marauding three hour mix.

As would be expected of a musician of his diversity this meanders through everything from 80s boogie to hip hop beats via house, indie, krautrock and everything in between like a good old fashioned radio show.

New Jackson All City Mix (ACM017)

On August 29, 2016, I had the unique privilege to be the second DJ to ever grace the decks of the brand new Art Car, Headspace.  We were parked on the Esplanade and 8:00 and I played this set from 1:00 AM to 4:00.   It was a magical experience and I hope you enjoy the end results of this 3 hour set.

Welcome back for another weekly mix here at LAMP. Fresh off the announcement of this years lineup for Desert Hearts (which looks fantastic by the way) we have one of their longtime residents and recording artists Lubelski joining us in the studio this week for the mix. In addition he has recently had a couple of smash releases with Lapsus Music along with his buddy Rybo further cementing his foot hold in the tech house world that is exploding at the moment. Thumpasaurus is an insane 5 piece punk/funk band, that formed in LA at USC while I was in college. I'd see these guys tear it up at rowdy backyard house parties or in people's living rooms where sweat would drip from the ceiling... I cant explain how formative it was for me musically to see Thumpasaurus. They reignited my interest in live music, bands, etc. They're a huge musical inspiration of mine. 

This is a collaborative EP I made with the homies from Thump. Wayne's World is an original, sparked by an iphone recording of the bass player, Logan Kane hitting a beer bottle with a drum stick.. The rest of the EP is a bunch of edits/remixes that range from a simple DJ edit of I'm Too Funky to completely reimagined versions of songs like Space Barn and Dance Like It's Your Life. 

I'm such a fan of Thump, their music, their live show, and the guys themselves. Henry Was plays drums in the Fantastic Voyage Band and also has a bunch of original music coming thru the label! 
Paul Cornish, Logan Kane and Henry Solomon are world class Jazz Musicians who are seniors at USC. They're all prodigies who are gonna be insaaaanely big in the jazz world individually. Then there's Lucas Tamaren who I hear isn't originally from this planet. Lovechild of Rikki Rikki Goose and some crazy Tiger in an outerspace barn house...

What’s up Desert Hearts Family,

We’re proud to share with you our 5.5 hour Desert Hearts Crew Closing Set from Monday afternoon at our 2018 Festival. We wanted to kick things off with this mix because the party on Monday is generally our favorite party of each festival. These closing sets are often as eclectic as it gets because we pretty much play anything we want to hear on the Funktion-Ones one last time. It’s also the time when all of our staff and volunteers who’ve been working all weekend are finally off the clock to celebrate one last dance with the family. Word must be getting out about this party because we couldn’t believe how packed the dance floor was at 7:45pm when we finally shut it down. This set was supposed to be 4 hours, but straight up, we didn't want to stop playing. The vibe was too incredible this Desert Hearts and we didn’t want it to end. We hope this journey brings you back to the magic that we all experienced 2 weeks ago. We’re eternally grateful for this community and we love you all. We’ll be trickling out a few sets each month throughout the year so make sure to follow Desert Hearts Records on Soundcloud to relive all the magic.
