ARCHAIC GATHERING 2023

"Give it a Week" is a poignant exploration of the struggle between fear, indecision, and self-doubt. The song delves into the complexities of being stuck in a relationship, torn between the potential for regret and the fear of choosing complacency. As Nick reflects, “I often write music that is accidentally playful and upbeat, but the lyrics that come out are often more painfully true than I’d like them to be. I try to fix a lot of problems with logic and reason, but sometimes no matter how much I calculate or talk it out, nothing makes sense anymore. Sometimes, the problems just pass; sometimes they don’t, but often giving it a week and seeing if the problem is still true is an answer.”

The track’s playful melody and jazz-infused sounds pair perfectly with Di Gregorio's reflective vocals, giving it a sense of intimacy and vulnerability. As the first single off the EP, “Give it a Week” sets the tone for a direction that blends the love of electronic, glitchy production, neo-soul jazz guitar, and honest lyricism, capturing the essence of Nick’s evolution as a producer and musician.

Matthew Hayes With Joel Trigg’s debut release, “Elegant Universe”, is on the dope local-selectors label Ken Oath Records. It is an autochthonous yoke of house, jazz and ambient beauty… Elegance.

Alien by origin, it’s an album that you could hang too, make love too or impress your sophista-friends as a backdrop to an introspective cuddle puddle…. the ending to an MDMA cap after a night out in Berlin comes to mind!

When I moved to the city and was first year uni at the victorian college of the arts, i remember people telling me about this amazing third year bassist from monash University, Matthew Hayes. I had to see it to believe it, no one plays bass like matthew hayes he is a standalone genius in the Melbourne improvisational music scene. A constant source of admiration, inspiration and someone I look up too.

We both affectionately share the same nickname “Hazy” or “Hayesy”. Matt because of his last name and me because of… well if you know me then know ;-)

Joel Trigg is an absolute legend ! One of the most kindest, gentlest and caring people that i’ve had the great pleasure of shared many times in performance and in beat-making/production. 

One of my fondest memories is the conception of “A Brother Scratch” beat tape. Which came about as an improvising hip-hop game.

Matthew Hayes With Joel Trigg (Horatio Luna Remix)

London based Aussie songwriter FETHERSTONE joins forces with producer BREW to release an 80's synth remix - which is then interpreted by Sydney's DESIGN BY STUDIO B into an emblematic, avant-garde music video.

Since Fetherstone hit the London scene in 2016, she's been working closely with London producer Brew on a number of new projects, the first of which comes a remix of "All You Need To Be" from the electro-pop debut EP, released over 4 months April through July 2017. Brew's creative twisting and turning of the lyrics and form have transformed what was originally a ballad into a relaxed dancy track beautifully layered with vocals and synths. 

This new remix sees the beginning of another artistic collaboration with Sydney based graphic designer/videographer Design By Studio B, who has interpreted the new remix into an imagery filled, avant-garde music video. 

The track will be released on 31st August 2018 through AWAL and available on Spotify, Apple Music, Itunes and all other online platforms. The video will be out 7th September.
