Many people simply want to hear and enjoy some great new music without having to waste time searching for hours. These Musical Discoveries collections aim to fulfill those needs. At least, we hope so!

This playlist is a compilation of the favourite musical discoveries of the Wud Records team from everything they heard at SoundCloud during September 2017.

Tracks have been arranged according to the number of plays at the time of publishing, starting with the fewest. Tracks that are early in playlists tend to receive more plays than later tracks, and we feel that the ones with fewer plays need the best chance of exposure.

This playlist is extremely eclectic, so if the track you are playing isn't quite doing it for you, try the next one. It will probably be completely different.

My first experimental piece of music with my new toy, Korg Monotron Delay, a very very small analog synth. I also connected the guitar and the bass and used it as an effect device. Crazy, sick Lo-Fi synth sounds. The result of 3 hours work in the cellar ;-). Not everyone's thing. Headphones may turn down! ;-)

It often seems that American popular culture minimizes the family and especially the devoted father. They portray the men to be incompetent, foolish and obnoxious. Yet, in reality, when most of us think about our fathers we think of a loving, positive and strong guiding force in our lives.

A little late night jam over a backing I made of the progression to West LA Fadeaway.  Playing a new, old guitar which is a 1978 Ibanez Musician.  First time I have ever recorded anything with it, very fun to play - the overdrive is an SMS Earth Drive pedal.  The track is me on guitars with drum & bass loops that I put together to jam with.

Well, this has got to be the most difficult song I've ever had to work on, and definatley the longest I've ever worked on a song. It was recorded badly, so getting back up to a presentable edit was very hard. The song was written after the first Gulf war, so now the words have changed a lot to make it more current. It's anti war, anti violence, anti daesh, and a little left wing politically.

The Highway Men - ALBUM

For me, one of the most beautiful bossa novas, the wonderful Gentle Rain.  Luiz Bonfa wrote so many wonderful tunes, including Manha de Carnaval (A Day in the Life of a Fool / Black Orpheus) and Gentle Rain.  At age 11, Bonfa was traveling by train 2.5 hours each way to classical guitar lessons, which were given to him free by his generous teacher, because the family could not afford them.  Over his career, Bonfa worked with such musical luminaries as Quincy Jones, George Benson, Stan Getz and Frank Sinatra.  His most famous music is in the movie Black Orpheus.  My recording here was done all on keyboards.

This City

A full time, freelance children's book illustrator, introduced to Magix music making software in January 2014.  Haven't been near music production since school about a hundred years ago.  Can't play a note, and sing like a drain unblocking - Hence any music I may eventually have the nerve to upload is all created using midi/vst instruments playing compositions created in the piano roll editor.   The Magix forum dedicated to music production is the only place to suffer my creations so far.  Didn't realise it could be so much fun though.  Woohoo.
