Fabrizio Rat - La Machina


« Take a piano, the classic and romantic instrument par excellence, and project it into the hypnotic and powerful soundscape of techno music ». 

Following two Eps, ‘’La Machina’’ (Optimo Trax) and ‘’Technopiano’’ (Involve), Fabrizio releases his first album of hybrid techno, with an innovative sound palette. The Pianist combines the acoustic sounds and weird harmonics of his prepared piano with the acid loops of the TB-303 and the beats of the TR-909.
« I want to play like these machines that I love, to translate their exactitude and imperfection with my human nature, to open up new paths, and play with our errors. The repetition process let me enter another dimension, a state of trance where the physical effort disappear, and control is not necessary any more, I just need to be carried away by sound, with a bit of luck. »

Unsurprisingly, it’s in front of the dancefloor, in clubs or festivals, that Fabrizio plays his live sets. With the right hand he plays repetitive rhythmical patterns while the left one handles the machines and manipulates the piano strings.
His goal is to reach « the trance, to project on the dancers the hypnotic state of my right hand moving on the piano ».

I have been djing for over 15 years starting life in club nights around Worcestershire and free parties.
I started my DJ life playing funky house as a bedroom DJ, I was self-taught and soon aspired to play in clubs in front of 100’s of people. I played in various clubs around Worcester and Birmingham. I also was part of a sound system known as UVA and we would regularly put parties on in the surrounding countryside and anywhere that we could get in. At the same time of me playing with the sound systems I started to take a shine to the Acid Techno that was being played by various other Dj’s, but stuck with house music. The biggest gig I got was playing alongside Mike Cosford Of Fantazia and warming up for AL McKenzie formerly of D:ream and I played to a sell-out crowd of 500 of a night where I was headline. I carried on with House for a number of years also playing in the former Green Field at Glastonbury.
Then I took a change of direction one I regret to this day and this was to do with a circle of friends I got involved with, I stopped playing funky house and went to Hard House for about 4 years. I left this circle of friends for one reason or another and stopped playing for a year not knowing which direction to go in and not wanting to play Hard House anymore either. Then after a short break I rekindled my love and appreciation for Techno and Acid Techno so I went out and bought 5 vinyl of Acid techno, the labels were RAW, Stay up forever, Wah Wah, Power tools, Smittern, which has lead me to where I am today.
I have being playing funky Techno Acid for about 9 years now and love every bit of it I have hooked up with various Techno organisation and played mainly at free parties in the Shropshire hills. Thank you for taking time to view my page.
