For several years I have been interested in border things and in particular in temporal boundaries.
We’re generally used to confer on boundaries the characteristics of beginning or end, therefore moments like the equinox symbolically become the beginning of a season and the end of another. However, I think it is more interesting to think of these borderline moments as moments of time in their own right, with their own identity that brings the weight of past and at the same time they can potentially become something new. This possibility of becoming is for me extremely more fascinating than the definitive act of becoming, since it contains within itself the natural principles of active evolution, allowing us to glimpse the possible paths, like shadows of a thought that has finally been realized. In the Devonian period an animal called "Tiktaalik" was the protagonist of the evolutionary passage of life from water to land, it was neither a fish nor an amphibian, but a "being in transition".
The piano in this piece, with its preparations and augmentations, is a living and organic instrument, a boundary instrument, which let glimpse the sonic possibilities of an evolutionary story. 
Here the piano becomes an instrument-tiktaalik.

Parallaxe. Parataxe is an acousmatic composition that investigates syntactic construction through the juxtaposition of sonic moments in which the different synthesis processes used create pathways that shift in the timbral, spatial and spectral range. Thus the musical processes constantly change the point of view of the sound objects, creating an acoustic equivalent of the parallax phenomenon through their relationship to the artificial sound background that arises from the projection of the properties of the foreground figures and their timbral permutation.

Reverie is an acousmatic composition that leads the listener through an immersive fantasy centered around deconstructed music boxes. The work comprises eight sections that alternate between explorations of the music boxes’ gears and chimes. In the work, the music boxes’ sounds are pulled apart, exaggerated, expanded, and combined with other sounds whose timbres and textures are reminiscent of the original. As the piece unfolds, the timbres increase in spectral and textural density, and the associations become more and more fantastical. Gears are transformed into zippers, coins, chainsaws, motorcycles, and fireworks, and the chimes morph into rainstorms, all sizes of bells, pianos, and more. 

Reid composed the work during residencies at the Ucross Foundation and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. 

Reverie won First Prizes in the 6th International “New Vision” Composition Competition “Galaxies” in memory of Nicolaus Copernicus, the 8th KLANG! International Electroacoustic Composition Competition, and Musicworks' Electronic Music Composition Contest; Sound of the Year's “Composed with Sound Award”; and Second Prizes in both the Xenakis International Electronic Music Competition and the XIII° International Destellos Competition.

Nicola Cappelletti (ITA/FRA) is an electroacoustic sound artist, performer and composer. He focuses his artistic research on the relationship between acoustic sound and electronic processing in various expressive contexts of the contemporary arts, such as dance, visual arts, theater and poetry. He collaborates with numerous artists, performers and musicians in various fields of contemporary music.
As a performer his activity ranges from popular music, with forays into rock and club music, to concerts of radical improvisation for prepared instruments, concrete sounds and electronics. As a composer, his work has been presented at ICMC, SMC Conference, NYCEMF, Ars Electronica, Muslab, Atemporanea, Colloqui di Informatica Musicale, Lund Contemporary, Simultan Festival, Mantis Festival, Cantiere internazionale d’Arte of Montepulciano, Festival Nuova Consonanza, Seoul International Computer Music Festival, Festival Orizzonti, Encode, Dancity. He is a member of the Opificio Sonoro ensemble directed by Marco Momi and he holds the chair of Electroacoustic Music Composition at the Conservatory of Music in Cuneo.
