5 Mag's RISE series features a new mix from Soul Foundation's Brian Gardner.

Brian Gardner has done just about everything in the Chicago scene you could possible imagine. He worked as a buyer at vinyl emporia Hot Jams, Hip House and WaxADDICT, threw parties, put on young and aspiring DJs, brought in tastemakers for their first gigs abroad, made tracks and played even more tracks at venues from Boom Boom Room and Smartbar to his own Soul Foundation events. Now based in Vegas, he's released music on Housepit Chi, Farris Wheel Recordings, Minuendo Recordings (Spain), RealDEEP Recordings, Thought Records & remixes on Black Error Recordings (SA) and his own imprint Soul Foundation Recordings.

An all-vinyl mix from Chicago DJ and producer Ilana Ariella served up for this week's Monday morning RISE mix.

Once accused of being an "undercover DJ," @ilana_ariella 's natural talent and ear for tunes has helped propel her career from bedroom aficionado to fully fledged artist. Pushing through a global pandemic, she stayed relevant by regularly streaming with her Chicago residency SHFFT. She also found time to get into the studio, putting out two original productions, “Rock the Vote,” self released in the fall of 2020 and “Falling Up” a collab with her SHFFT colleague Shmoo, released on Chicago legend Ron Carroll’s digital imprint Electric Disco in summer of 2022.

Earlier this year Ilana launched Cheap Talk, a new Chicago-based independent label headed by Ilana Ariella with A&R by Shmoo.

This set is an "all-vinyl mix recorded at home on two Technics 1200s and a Pioneer DJM 900nxs2." &#x270c;&#xfe0f;
