Press Release for "First Lesson - Single PR"
Juice Aleem touches down with the first single from his forthcoming late-arriving debut album “Jerusalaam”.

“First Lesson” does exactly what it says on the tin. Over a shuffling, chugging slice of classic Shadowless funk care of producer/MC Blackitude, Juice lays down the law to every wack MC, lame-ass trendy and posturing wannabe badman, throws in some foul thoughts and dirty deeds, before rounding things out with a sing-rap chorus of pop-itch catchiness.

But Juice has also rounded up a bunch of like-minds and fellow travellers for a truly fantastic remix package. Evil Nine kick things off with an electro-breaks epic that sounds like the best of Justice, only with a better lyricist! Next up grime/dubstep producer of the moment Rude Kid turns in a brutal, pummelling take on the original, all vicious synth lines and bouncing drum patterns. Longtime Aleem-associate, Big Dada podcaster, DJ and producer A La Fu steps up next with a mix which combines great shimmering curtains of spooky keys with shuddering bass. Finally Blackitude delivers the Shadowless Domain remix, which hints at dubstep crossed with Hong Kong action movies.

A superb package from a remarkable lyricist, this is the first of many lessons – lessons in doing it right, in caring about what you say and how you say it, in middle finger audacity and creative intelligence. Learning ain’t usually so much fun…

    The Heavy return with next single from their forthcoming album, 'The House That Dirt Built' (release 5th October on Counter Records), a widescreen funk epic, moving from JBs shuffle to crashing break, Animals guitar and horn fanfares, a huge build which is set to bring the house down wherever it’s played. 
      
    As if the original wasn’t enough, The Heavy have compiled a superb package of remixes. Fellow West Countryman Joker gives the original a huge dollop of Purple and comes up with something sounding like Timberlake smoking skunk in St Pauls. Ghost takes the tempo down and emphasises the mournful backing vocals for a suitably majestic finale. As if this wasn’t enough, The Heavy have also thrown in a bonus track, 'Tell It Like It Is', a country-fried hoe-down which emphasises just how good Swaby’s voice is. 
      
    Produced by Jim Abbiss (best known for his work with the Arctic Monkeys, Adele and Kasabian), 'The House That Dirt Built' is a breakthrough record from one of the most exciting bands in the UK just now. With a growing rep in the States, festival dates lined up for the summer and a huge tour to support the album this autumn, the Heavy have just built their house on your front lawn. Get used to the view.

We just found the FIRST EVER EVIL NINE TRACK from 1998 on an old CD, part of a 5 track demo we sent to Adam Freeland / Marine Parade on a cassette. None of the five tracks got released but they secured us an album deal & launched our 14 year career in music, this one sounds like about 7 tracks in one.....
