Solid Steel (13th September) We welcome London Elektricity to the show having appeared 4 times from '99 to 2002 and as always, we wanted something a little different. Here in his own words;
"I'm known for being a d&b DJ who leans towards the eccentric side, so here's a mix that represents the weird and wonderful music that keeps me from falling asleep whilst driving home from a night club. Most of these records were blind purchases - or should that be deaf purchases - I bought the records on the strength of the artwork alone, usually featuring improbably large breasted and frankly weird looking women silhouetted against a backdrop of Hawaii. This is music to perhaps help you dream of summer, or maybe to prepare you for your own demise. That not withstanding remember this: I know what it is to be young, but you, you don't know what it is to be old."

716 Exclusive Mix - Philippe Noël : Welcome To Congo Vol.2

Solid Steel in association with Serato (15th April) As Record Store Day approaches once again, we hand over Solid Steel to Tim Gane from the highly influential group Stereolab and his latest project Cavern of Anti-Matter (who will have a remix 12" in the shops on RSD). It's two exclusive hour long mixes titled 'Whiteout Mix' and 'Blackout mix' that parallel each other with some of the same artists appearing on both hours. He certainly digs deep unearthing some pretty rare gems and choice selections, including Terry Riley, Kassem Mosse, Italian library music, one of Mark Kinchen's 1st productions, a rare Kraftwerk 7", Jef Gilson & Hal Singer, an early Drexciya production, Larry heard as The Gherkin Jerks and Hieroglyphic Being who is one of the artists on remix duty alongside Karen Gwyer on the Cavern of Anti-Matter release for Record Store Day. This is how he described his mix;
"An abstracted trawl through some prized recordings. Music can be like a fever dream with no rational interpretations possible and all these tracks have given me that rush. Over the years they have shown me the door and window to another kind of sound and new forms of composition and an endless collage of possibility.Totally shocking listening to these tracks again and putting the mix together. I have included one of my own mess about loops from about 8 or 9 years ago."

Solid Steel (29th July) DK returns to Solid Steel for a full 2 hr session and a round up of releases from the first half of 2016, including the current crop from the Ninja Tune family of labels and as always a dip into the vaults. The haunting sounds of Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares open the show followed by Bwana with the first of 3 tracks from the Aus 100 comp, Four Tet with his insanely long titled track, Kaytranada, Seven Davis Jr and classic Carl Craig in the form of the Paperclip People. Technicolour is represented by NY AK, Florian Kupfer and Hieroglyphic Being, with a track from his forthcoming album 'The Disco's Of Imhotep'. Roots Manuva heads up the Big Dada selection with remixes by Kode9 and Champion from the 'Bleeds' Deluxe version, Jameszoo flies the flag for Brainfeeder, whilst more Ninja Tune releases come via Machine Drum, Space Dimension Controller, The Bug, Sarathy Korwar and The Invisible remixed by Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. Music from Pearson Sound, Trim , Cid Rim on remix duties, Danny Brown, Lone and Rival Consoles keep the tempo high in Hour 1, with a more sedate second hour courtesy of BADBADNOTGOOD, Medlar remixing Kon, Radiohead, James Heather, Mark Pritchard and Ben Lukas Boysen on Erased Tapes, plus timeless gems by Cassiano, Empress, Vance & Suzanne and Arthur Verocai.

When it comes to record labels there are very few who can contest the continual relevance of Sonic Cathedral. Born and bred from the depths of obscure club nights they since evolved into one of the most engaging and individual record labels in the UK. Never one for hype or over exuberance they have steadily released music since 2006 and continue to move forwards. 

The latest project to emerge from the record label is a new club night called 'Ambience Chasers'. The evening will take place monthly in London and will focus on the more obscure elements amidst electronic music. Expect soundscapes, drone music and ambient bliss.
