Pünktlich im Hochsommer kommt die neue EP von Wolfgang Lohr & Phable 'Farbentraum'. Wolfgang Lohr steht für vielfältige Musik, die detailreich arrangiert ist und sich in den Genres Tech House, Deep House, House, Minimal und Electro Swing zu Hause fühlt. Der Allrounder feilt unermüdlich an seinem ganz persönlichen Stil. Seine Lohrwürmer sind vor allem treibend und bassline-orientiert - Meine Musik soll das Tanzbein euphorisieren, im Club drücken, zu Hause Appetit anregen und vor allem Spaß bringen. Aber Produzieren allein reicht dem Lohr natürlich nicht: Seit 2012 performt er auch als Liveact und mischt die Clubszene persönlich auf. Die Musik wird erst während des Sets arrangiert, damit geht Lohr direkt auf das Publikum ein, so ist jedes Stück ein Unikat. This is about digging deep and finding that inner strength to make things happen when the pressure is so intense it feels like your head is about to explode.
When the backing track for this song was finished I felt it would be great to have someone writing not just a song but a hook that you would remember. I had heard some of Chris James’s work from different releases and got in touch as I felt he could be interesting to work with. Once again I was lucky finding the right person straight away. He quickly sent me some ideas once we decided to do the song together and I fell in love with it from the beginning. The hardest part of this one was to get the arrangement right and make room for both melodies and Chris's lovely vocal hooks. In the end I think I managed to get the balance just right.

Welcome to the third instalment from Colin Dale and Jules Dickens’ Abstrakt Dance imprint, which was launched last summer. Jules Dickens’ ‘The Return EP’ featuring a remix by Russ Gabriel follows on from a great start to the label that has already seen EPs from Colin Dale and Sir Lord Commix.

Jules Dickens, renowned for his production work as Abstract Source, is a London based DJ and producer, as well as a studio owner and teacher. So, quite the busy man! But here, he takes time out from this hectic schedule to present his first release for Abstrakt Dance.

‘The Return EP’ opens with the deepness of ‘Another Place’ where a smooth groove meets washes of synth work and cool, housey beats. The Detroit-esque piano of ‘The Return’ follows on with its thumping bassline under layers of claps, cymbals and dappled electronics, before the melancholy melodies and acid-tinged effect of ‘Analog Soul’, the last of Jules’ original three workings takes hold.

The release ends in a flourish from Techno heavyweight Russ Gabriel who (for anyone who’s been in a coma since the 90s!) has had releases on Planet-E, Peacefrog, Soma and his own highly respected Ferox label amongst others, with more recent outings on the likes of Mobilee and Pokerflat to his name. His characteristic remix on ‘Analog Soul’ ends this quality EP in fine style, proving why this influential artist is still in such high demand.
