„Dreams are so important to people. Often underestimated, but can tell us a lot of messages”. Today you can listen to the first single from forthcoming Noise From Iceland album - „Ey”. 

In the recording from 1968, Þorbjörg Guðmundsdóttir is telling a story about meaningful, scary dream with storm and strange red sky with many moons. 

The field recording in this track comes from Vikin beach in Heimaey, Vestmannaeyjar in Iceland. The photo on the single cover comes from a black desert in Icelandic interior is by Magdalena Łukasiak.

This song marks a new chapter in the history of Noise From Íceland. I want the sounds of Íceland and the accompanying music to soothe, help gain distance, relax, and lull you to sleep—just as it aided me during difficult times. Íceland has something special that makes you feel welcomed, embraced by the nurturing nature. I aim to achieve this not only through field recordings but also by leveraging my longstanding exploration of the psychology of music and the impact of sound on the brain. Therefore, there will be experiments involving specific frequencies, among other things. It may sound a bit daunting, but rest assured—it will be beautiful. :)

In "Keflavík 92" field recordings from the Solheimajökull glacier and the black beach in Grafarvogur are present but in a slightly altered form. In both cases, the frequencies of natural sounds have been "translated" into a melody that runs throughout the entire track. Yes, indeed... the AI era does not bypass Noise From Íceland (which shouldn't come as a surprise to those following my profile), but I assure you that artificial intelligence is not doing anything here for me, only with me. :)

You can also hear the communication tower-pilot recorded during the flight from Keflavík to JFK in April 1992. I could use it thanks to the courtesy of Haraldur Baldursson, the Icelandair pilot who gave me the analog microtapes with these recording.

I am MA of musicology, graduated at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków and a graduate of the State General Art School in Zakopane in the violin class. I compose and produce electronic music. I presented my songs i.e. at the Warsaw Electronic Festival, on the compilation “Laptops make history – for future compilation”, in the live set for Radio BIS. As a violinist, I collaborated with electronic music producers in Poland and abroad.

I also write about music. I have been working as a music journalist since 2005, I have published, among others in Onet, Tygodnik Powszechny, Dziennik Polski, T-Mobile Music, the magazines Logo, Presto, LAIF and Miasto Kobiet.
