@roza-terenzi is an Australian DJ and producer whose sound folds into the fuzzy, lo-fi style of contemporary house music that’s blossomed in recent years. Originally from Perth, and now based in Melbourne, Roza Terenzi has released two strong EPs in 2017: The O.G., on Good Company Records, and Mwah, on rising Dutch label Kalahari Oyster Cult. This April, she’s due to release the Planet Euphorique EP, a collaboration with DJ Zozi, AKA Vancouver producer D. Tiffany; it’ll be the debut of D. Tiffany’s Planet Euphorique label. The EP was recorded over the past year, between Vancouver and Melbourne, and features, in their own words, “heavenly pads, intricate bleeps and breakdance-worthy drums.” For her Choice Mix, Roza Terenzi’s sound orbits Planet Euphorique.

As our mix series passes it’s 80th contribution, we have taken a small break to readjust and bring in some extra special artists to bring us each step closer to mix 100. Kicking off this stretch we have Bristol-based Australian native, Galtier. Head honcho of the ever-expanding Nostro Hood System, producer of some of the more interesting club-oriented music to come out in the past year and all-round unpredictable DJ, Galtier has provided us with sixty minutes of sleazy, broken club-oriented bangers, starting off slow and chuggy and ending with a slew of ambient, covering wide stylistic ground en-route. The blend covers off more in an hour than most would in three without feeling rushed in the slightest. It’s a real special mix for us at Watch the Hype and we hope it is for you too.

Noisey Mix: Mechatok

In the last couple of years, London's SHERELLE (@iamsherelle)has torn through the dance music world like a tornado. Everything she does is high speed and high impact, from what she mixes to the way she mixes it. Her dizzying mix of footwork, jungle and drum & bass has breathed new life into the 160bpm scene and got people all over Europe in a spin. As well as solo work, she plays as part of the 6 Figure Gang and runs the Hooversound Recordings label with Naina while also championing all things leftfield on her BBC Radio 1 residency. 

Of course, her 80 minute mix for us is pure fire, a bumping ride through thrilling kick patterns, shimmering toms and drilling bass. It's underpinned with a constant sense of tension that keeps you utterly on the edge of your seat and variously explodes into life, or pulls back to a moment of unsettling calm. It tells the story of a rich history of UK music, but with a fresh perspective that makes it all the more vital.
