Very nice samples to work with.
I unmuted the first 3 (or the last 3?) the more "synth" ones, didn't use the glitchy/noise tracks. Those 3 tracks played back with no added fx or mix sounded full Vangelis for me.
I  miss and I know I will miss Vangelis Papathanassíou for the rest of my life.
This one's for him.

Fallen Blossom (NaviarHaiku514)

This week's assignment is to pay tribute to the Roland 303 by doing something that is apart from how you think it was intended to be utilised.

The 303 was originally supposed to be an accompaniment for like lounge bar solo musicians. Tweaking the knobs live to make the classic acid sound was already creative misuse...

I decided I'd use 303s to focus on melody and harmony, and try and stay away from the acid sound or anything that sounded too like a bassline. I also decided to use some polymeter (different parts layered in different time signatures) and a gradual tempo change to undermine the basic 4 4 rhythm.

I did want to use some of the classic characteristics of the 303, still, otherwise it seemed a bit pointless if it was entirely unrecognisable to even the most hardcore nerds. So I did use the pitch glide and also tweaked the (virtual) knobs a bit.

I used four copies of a software 303 emulator called AudioRealism ABL-3. 
Three form sparse chords, with the polymeter creating variations. The fourth plays the melody in 4 4.

Then there's just some drums (also in 4 4) and some effects and that's it.

this time I used Ableton to elaborate this musical idea, however the first with this daw, which I find very interesting on a functional level. shame about the workflow, but unlike cubase it is definitely designed for a live environment. as a first experiment not bad, I hope it is the first of a long series.
