Our little band has been busy over the summer months working on songs for a fall release.  This is perhaps one of the more spiritually-centered songs we have written and published.  How responsible are we for the evil that has come upon the world, for the resultant suffering it has brought. Peter's beautiful words begin with an act of redemption for mankind, but end with judgement not by God's choice, but man's will. 
The words did not come easily as Peter confesses that his pen "hovered above the last line for several minutes" not wanting to write it, but with a prophet's conviction, knew it must be written. The question is begged by those who will to believe, does the beauty of God's creation also involve justice and judgement, what Luther called "God's alien work"?  
Peter's verse has never been more poignant or Seagull's production more finely crafted. His track note also offers further insight into our thinking on the song and is well worth reading.

Updated 10/02/2025 Why has it been so difficult for everyone to agree that we are destroying our planet? What would it take to change the course of events? Can we finally solve these challenges without violence? Have we learned nothing from the past??? Why have we become so disconnected? 

I love this quote from Carl Sagan's book Contact: “You're an interesting species. An interesting mix. You're capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you're not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we've found that makes the emptiness bearable, is each other.”

Cogito ergo sum is a previously unreleased instrumental demo by DestKorn, created in June 2024. The piece is built on the intimate interplay of cello and piano, carrying a melancholic and almost fragile atmosphere. It was never released anywhere – only here, exclusively on SoundCloud, you can listen to it.
Please forgive if the pitch or sound quality isn’t perfect in every detail – this demo is a raw glimpse into my creative process, capturing the unpolished essence of that very moment.

The instruments were created using EastWest and Spitfire Audio libraries, capturing the distinctive character of cello and piano.

The title Cogito ergo sum translates to “I think, therefore I am.” It was chosen because this work is more than just an instrumental – it is a thought, an existential truth transformed into music. Each note is part of that thought, a silent dialogue without words. By listening, you give life to this thought and carry it forward.

At home producer of electronic tracks in varying styles - I really enjoy experimenting with melding different genres. 
Been writing songs since the mid 70's whilst playing bass & drums in various bands (the first one was a punk band) and digitally writing since 2006. Retired now, so much more time for having fun with music :) It's just a hobby for me these days; Soundcloud is just a great place to share music & connect with people who have the same interests.
