Hello everyone.
This weekend I decided to learn how to use Reason 5 by Propellerhead. I’m not there yet…
I used the NN19 Digital Sampler, the Thor Polysonic Synthesizer
and the tracks of analoc, Noodle Twister and Sunbear. Thank you guys!

Plucks & Pad & Speed Limit [featuring Noodle Twister and Henk Lasschuit] (Disquiet0610)

Time stretch modes as lofi rhythmic filters. 4 tracks are slowed to 1/2 speed and cut into short segments. Each segment repeatedly shifts between time stretch modes to create timbral variations.

Slow & Low (RabMusicLab, Samplair, A.Kitzmann)(disquiet0610)

In response to this week's @disquiet prompt I took fragments of last week's music from @ray_cobley (rhythm track + piano), @user-807707609 (synth arpeggios) and @marcolucchi (plucked strings).

The best things happen in threes, I've always found.

Being an 80s goth, I took an echo, reverb and modulation to make a cut up technique call and response piece. The echo suggests the tempo is faster than the 30bpm.

This was a helpful project as I learned how to slow down audio in Logic Pro, how to mix tracks directly to an audio download, and scratched around the edges of the effects multiverse available in the software. 

I learn in bits or my brain explodes.

The Assignment: Combine two or more pre-existing 60 BPM tracks into something new — at half the speed.

Step 1: In the previous Disquiet Junto project, participants recorded a variety of tracks at a standard pace of 60 BPM. Listen to the resulting material on the Lines discussion board and the SoundCloud playlist:
Step 2: Select two or more tracks from the provided ones, slow them to half their original pace — that is, to 30 BPM — and use editing techniques to combine them into one new piece of music.

Eight Important Steps When Your Track Is Done:

Step 1: Include “disquiet0610” (no spaces or quotation marks) in the name of your tracks.

Step 2: If your audio-hosting platform allows for tags, be sure to also include the project tag “disquiet0610” (no spaces or quotation marks). If you’re posting on SoundCloud in particular, this is essential to subsequent location of tracks for the creation of a project playlist.

Step 3: Upload your tracks. It is helpful but not essential that you use SoundCloud to host your tracks.

Step 4: Post your track in the following discussion thread at llllllll.co:

Slow Tide - disquiet0610

For this week's @disquiet challenge I returned to the use of field recordings that I'd mash together to create sound-based pieces when I got back into creative practice during lockdown in 2020. I was recording bird song this weekend, and by accident I'd switched the Zoom recorder on in my pocket when I got back to @kate-gallaher's house, so there's a speeded up version of me going through the door and making coffee that runs throughout all echoed up. I've taken fragments of @stellato-strings trying the looping machine alongside some of the bird and stream sounds I had taken that morning. So the piece becomes like entering a 5D portal of exterior and interior worlds, mixing up how I started making artworks and blending this with the editing composition practice I started developing first using Audacity, and now on Logic with all the big spangly effects 'n fings.
