Certified Groovers [9 hour open to close set]

Hey friends! 

I had a blast last weekend playing open to close for Certified Groovers in DTLA. A 9-hour solo show is a huge undertaking and my nerves *almost* got the better of me when I showed up to the venue early and found out I incorrectly formatted my flash drives. Somehow I sensed something would go wrong, so I rushed home, reformatted the drives, and grabbed a big bag of vinyl in case of more gremlins. Shouts to the legends Zac and Collin from Loud Laboratory for helping sort out a spare drive as a final failsafe—as well as their lighting, production, and absolutely smackin' sound on a Traction sound system. Extra special shoutout to all the dancers that stayed until after sunrise, thanks for the memories.

With artists such as Dauwd and Priku, this hour-and-thirty-minute mix starts off on the housier/minimal side of the spectrum, before venturing down the path of some faster-paced, high-energy techno with the likes of Funk Assult and Bjarki. Together with a couple of UKG and dubstep tracks, Ruby explores some genres you may not usually hear her play when out and about but thoroughly enjoys nonetheless.

EPM Podcast 175 comes from artist Alberto Melloni. Alberto is an Italian electro-disco producer, musician, DJ and co-owner of Raibano Records. In the early days of his musical career, as guitarist and synth player, he stepped onto the stage through Italy and Europe with many different artists. Today, as DJ and producer, Alberto carries on his solo project by producing new music somewhere between disco, italo, afro, techno and rock. After closing the @fastatwork party with a euphoric b2b last month, tonight @tsun_iman joins forces for the second time with dear friend @salmon247 . Expect the unexpected, as always.

Samwise is an LA (and sometimes London) based selector / DJ and eternal raver. Widely known as an impactful A&R across the dance music world, he is the force behind the multifaceted house-focused imprint Higher Ground, and has an A&R discography including work for DJ Tennis and his seminal label Life and Death, alongside a wide range of artists across the underground and commercial music spectrum. Additionally, he is co-founder and resident at Fast At Work, a forward-thinking party series and label that champions fast – but not necessarily hard – electronic music. While his sets are diverse and unapologetically raw, his sound cohesively elevates strong foundational grooves with deep emotional textures.

nostradahm is Alex Dahm, an aspiring architect, designer, musician, and DJ based in Los Angeles.

As a DJ, Alex has played everything from major festivals to underground events including: Coachella, Splash House, Pattern Bar, Ace Hotel DTLA, Melody, Certified Groovers, and a plethora more parties throughout Southern California. In addition to his numerous live performances, Alex hosted over 30 weekly 2-hour radio shows for the UK-based DJ collective Crate Digs (@crate-digs) from 2021-2022.

Drawing from his full-time occupation as an architect/designer, Alex's love of patterns, shapes, complex geometry, and spatial perception are the primary creative concepts at the foundation of his music. Like pages from an audio sketchbook, he regularly records and posts live jams to his Instagram and Facebook pages that are eventually mixed, mastered, and released as tracks.

What sets Alex apart is his ability to seamlessly weave together a wide range of influences into his productions and DJ sets. His musical palette encompasses genres like house, techno/dub techno, UK garage, drum and bass, disco, new wave, industrial, post-punk, ambient, classical, jazz, hip-hop, and more.  

Alex is also an avid vinyl addict and loves to constantly dig for music so expect a fresh set every time he's behind the decks. Follow him on the socials for his upcoming events, live jams, music recommendations, and more.
