With the double compilation “Infinite Summer: Ekstase & Fantasi”, katharsis celebrates the return of raves and concerts to society after a long period of pandemic shutdown. A magical summer has passed filled with an incredible pallet of emotional material, ready to be expressed. Therefore, we encouraged a collection of artists we adore to channel their imagination of the greatest way to conclude an endless summer night into a piece of music.

This resulted in a grand assemblage of harmonious manifestations, naturally splitting into two divisions with opposing focuses. On the first part of the duology “Ekstase” coming out on September 20th, we are presented with fourteen tracks for the dancefloor in an array of different styles, ranging everywhere from energetic morning vibes on the junglish opener “Origin, Gate's Dawn” by Yem Gel to hardcore sensations on Mang’s trap-infused roller “Based Halo”.

Making a bold entrance to the NHS realm is Cuyo, the spiritual connective to Gaia, the mother planet. This deep connection to the Earth beneath our feet is the driving force for Cuyo’s musical vision, and his debut NHS release does not shy away from this. 'π Drops' is purposeful, where the symbol Pi is represented as an infinite potential for the people of the world to shape the Earth into a colourful paradise without war, poverty and prejudice. It is both a 'response to the growing apathy of an admittedly depressed youth' and furthermore an invitation for 'a discouraged youth to flamboyantly care more than ever in a world that needs all the love it can get'. 

The three offerings Cuyo presents are a trio of production mastery. Distinctly detailed throughout, his attention to the finest nuances are immeasurable, feeling almost organic-like. There are clear Caribbean instrumental influences evident across all three originals, and this, coupled with the Euro-rave synth palette that he utilises throughout, forms his aptly titled 'Nitebow' style.

Oppressed, submerged, but packed with tremendous energy — that is how Out of Fashion Boys feels about Beijing as a city, as well as the way it defines itself as a label. As the political and cultural center of China, Beijing radiates such a unique charm that one simply cannot find another Chinese city similar to it. Though Beijing is not the most economically developed city in China, all the cultures that it cultivates will never be completely consumed by market economy. It is able to protect or even hinder a culture from commercialization until its next big explosion. Take the Beijing rock’n’roll scene as an example — it is hard to believe that there is almost a 3-decade gap between its two major explosions. Out of Fashion Boys managed to gather a diverse group of musicians into one record, with assistance of the unique energy of Beijing City. 12 groups of artists the label has previously invited to perform live have come together this time to work on the compilation Out of Fashion Boys Vol.1.

In this compilation, you will hear the creation by producer Zean, who is currently based in Shanghai. As a Chinese himself, he contributed to this compilation the most clever sonic take on the atmosphere of the Chinese capital. 
You will hear Berlin producer Goro, who sampled China Airlines’ public announcement in his track.
Paris-based producer King doudou set fire to the compilation with lush club beats that are spiced up with oriental flavors. 
Wrack from Tokyo titled his own track as Hot Pot.

One of the great truths of today's reality is that it's mostly fake. Technological advancement, in a dual process of exteriorization (our memories and organs extended into manipulable artifacts) and interiorization (artificial structures installed as prostheses), has muddied our waters so that we are unable to tell truths from lies, actuality from abstraction. Musing on the contemporary culture of “deepfakes,” where interlocking algorithms meet the omnipresence of surveillance, Eli Osheyack’s Memory Hierarchy is a gesamtkunstwerk, crystallized into the memorial device of a record. When first performed live at Unsound Festival in 2019, Osheyack, together with collaborator, the late Adam Dupré, captured and live-streamed the audiences’ motions. Evidence of this event is rendered here as album artwork, transporting audiences into a doubly displaced moment in time. With its almost epical structure, punctuated by recurring howls and gasps, Liar’s Dividend feels like an omen—of, among other things, a Nietzschean last man suffering from gluttony. On the B-side, Mutual Shaping and Tertiary leave us, instead, reveling in warped time and disorientation.
