The next release on Livity Sound’s Reverse label comes from Dayzero, a Japanese producer immersed in the deeper end of the dubstep spectrum. His appearance continues a long-term connection between underground music scenes in Bristol and Tokyo, previously crystalised in much-missed Naoki E-Jima’s Disc Shop Zero and the BS0 project. 

Dayzero’s approach on Daruma EP is steeped in the heads-down immersion of dubstep. Spring reverb splashes through ‘Ten’ and the title track’s sparse construction gets embellished by roots-minded FX processing, which nods to his 2020 release on esteemed US dub label ZamZam Sounds. With an unusual and varied palette applied to his stripped back productions, Dayzero captures the moody intensity and open-eared attitude of the early dubstep scene while leaning in on his own unique style.

Birmingham's Delta continues to make a notable rise within the scene this year and his best yet lands on Too Much Collective! Following releases from 7Kidz and Joe Big in recent months, Delta's 'Final Judgement' EP is another heavy hitting collection of tracks to feature on the Bristol imprint. It's a four track exploration of his dark and atmospheric sound which hits it's darkest depths during today's premiere, 'Shipwreck'.

Enter the wormhole with Japanese-based artist Dayzero, whose 3-track EP ‘Bare Brain’ is an exemplary exploration of LSD-laden, feverish club cuts that float along the fault line between slower, rolling tempos and twiddly, frantic double-time percussion elements. Tsuyoshi channels the kaleidoscopic, unbearable brightness of the mind and it’s potential throughout.

Having featured on labels such as Livity Sound & ZamZam Sounds, Dayzero makes a confident leap away from his dubstep affiliations to explore a more agitated, aerobically-respirated approach to dance music, whilst still carrying key components of his signature repertoire with him into the fray. FM notes, LFOs and constantly twisting harmonics pair with an expanse of BPMs and arrangements.
