Strapontin and Zillas On Acid have both previously had a release on Optimo Music Digital Danceforce.

After becoming aware of Philadelphia’s Zillas, Belgium’s Strapontin got in touch with them and suggested a collaboration. Strapontin says “I got totally attracted by that psychedelic rave vibe and asked to work together and see where our virtual meeting could lead us. Distant work was very simple, fluid and fun.”

Strapontin describes this release as “uninhibited, positively messy and pure rave fun”.

Zillas On Acid say “these tracks are the opposite of subtle, the sonic equivalent of a VCR biting your hand.”

They are both right.

As the founder of Deep House Tehran, a pioneering platform dedicated to pushing forward electronic music culture in Iran and connecting with the global electronic music scene, her work is more relevant than ever.

Nesa’s taking us on a 90ies infused trip with fast paced breaks, acid lines, dreamy pads and vocals.

The second guest on our monthly radio show on @radioalhara is no one less than our resident CHEB RUNNER. Buckle up for an hour of tastefully remixed Arabic pop classics and experimental beats.

Producer Cheb Runner (real name Reda Senhaji) is a musical hurricane rooted in Moroccan soil, exploring electronic musical landscapes. Nurtured by both worlds, he represents a new sound of in-betweenness. Using first hand sounds and recordings of his own sample bank based on traditional instruments, he mixes playfully analog with digital effects supported with a unique collection of synthesizers.

Our third guest on our monthly radio show on @radioalhara is none other than Aroh.
@aroh-dj is part of Kontakt Group and often spotted at @crevetterecords. Hangin’ around on the streets of the Brussels Capital Region and collecting some wonderfully weird records and MP3’s along the way. Not to be pinned down in a corner or genre but with his eyes always on the prize, Aroh brings a selection of tunes deeply rooted in the archive of the subterranean music catalogues.

@acidlillies16 is about dancing, loving music and sometimes noisy stuff. Not tied to one genre, she explores music all around with one goal : making people dance. From disco, to house, to hard techno with some jazz in-between, switching energy all around depending on the context she’s given. She recorded a deep, dancefloor ready mix to vibe to wherever you might be!

For this new mix in the series, we had the pleasure of inviting Zaatar زَعْتَر, a dj and producer of Moroccan and Belgian origins currently based in France.

Zaatar زَعْتَر finds her inspiration in the post punk and EBM movement of the late 80’ and early 90’ and melodies and sounds inherited from her home country Morocco. 

Let her take you on a captivating journey from light to darkness, an oscillation between joy and melancholy sometimes punctuated by oriental melodies.

ELECTRIC LIGHTS - Women in Electronic Music Vol. 2 Katja Ruge DJ Set

Electric Lights originates from a photo project by Katja Ruge in collaboration with Thomas Venker, Kaput – Magazine for Insolvenz & Pop, where the interviews and photos of female artists are published online. 
In an extraordinary DJ set series some of these artists play under the 21m huge dome of Planetarium Hamburg alongside the photographer herself, Katja Ruge:  “The special connection between space research, electronic music, photography, immersive projections - all rely on the intensive use of technology and complex machines - and the compound, shared levels of meaning make the planetarium the place for space in Hamburg "

This is a very personnel one with lots of favourite tracks I explored in a new way during a time of grief and sadness this last winter. 

Once again all of my mixes come as they are nothing changed or edited!

We are really happy to start this new serie of mixes with some of the guest DJs we had in our Rotten City label night parties called Rotten City Basement. For the first one we have the mighty Swiss duo Psycho Weazel who after releasing their "boysdontcry" album and performing many live concerts, they now want to explore their roots: the club. They were our guests Djs in Madrid last 19.03.2022, and we are looking forward to have them again in this 2025, taking advantage of his upcoming  wicked "The Record Ep" on Rotten City Files this winter.

Rotten City Basement Mixes #1 - Psycho Weazel

Arona ist ein Klangritual zwischen Licht und Schatten – ein Dialog aus Tiefe, Erinnerung und Sehnsucht. Sanft treibende Beats und schwebende Melodien verweben sich zu einer melancholischen, doch hoffnungsvollen Atmosphäre.

Die Tracks entfalten sich wie ferne Horizonte im Dunst: pulsierend, organisch und von leiser Spiritualität durchzogen. Arona erzählt von inneren Landschaften, von Aufbruch und Rückkehr, von dem Gefühl, an einem Ort zu sein, der nicht auf Karten existiert.
