1) Tell us a bit about yourself and your record collection.

I have been DJing and collecting records since my pre-teen years in the 80s. I always liked playing records, making music in bands, writing and talking about music and so forth.
My record collection has quite an emphasis on Hip Hop, Funk, Soul and Jazz, but you can find almost anything somewhere in there. When I was younger I always liked the fastest track on a record the most, as I was a (probably hyperactive) energetic dancer. And I loved knowing the words and stops and breaks of records. A tendency to be nerdy about these things. It helps with song selection in sets.

2) 45/7 is all about celebrating the 7". Can you tell us a bit about what you love about the format.

It is a very practical format to play, I think. 170 records in the box and off to a good night with music. My dear friend Keb Darge put me on in the end, when I was lucky enough to have my brother living in London and Keb inviting me to DJ at his club nights. A box of 45s and off I went. 
That kind of pushed me over the edge from compilations and LPs finally, I guess. 

3) One hour of vinyl goodness... can you talk us through your selection for your 45/7 mix?

It is a little Hip Hop heavy with some Soul, Funk and odd bits in there. I was going through a stack of records with some brand new releases, some records I purchased in the last months, a few releases on the Origu label and a few favorites from somewhere in another stack that was right next to that. It is a few reissues, originals and re-edits. All records I enjoy. I just started with the first one and let the records find their way in my hands...

Here's a live recording of my mostly 45's set from the awesome all vinyl Soulelujah party that goes down every saturday here in Boston, shout to the man Sean Q. aka claude money and the crew. It was my debut there and i had such an amazing time playing records that i so passionately collect and barely ever get to spin out in this city. Bet on hearing classic soul, funk and disco, as well as some rare joints for my nerdy collector digger types(all originals of course :) Oh and pardon the echo overkill on my mixer and yelling on the mic a couple of times too many haha.
