The last 72+ hours have been a movie. From Dubai to Cape Town, South Africa, here we are at Red Bull Studios blooming off the energy of the city and people around us. This mix is for the lovers of love and the lovers of music — indeed it is the music of lovers, which serves as the common thread. This Valentine's Day, I imagine it will resonate with happy couples, but also those who are single and seeking, and especially anyone who has ever experienced painful heartbreak.

This mix represents the broken pieces of my heart, glued back together with powdered gold, like the Japanese concept of fixing broken ceramics called Kintsukuroi. As such with gold filling in the cracks, the object is seen as more beautiful than before. This mix is an exploration of how the soaring highs of love can exist one moment and then how in the next, we can experience the lows of heartbreak. Each as strong as the other. It asks the question, what's real? And is it worth it to feel? I say yes — it's better to open your heart and make yourself vulnerable to get the chance at feeling something amazing, even with the risk of pain. (This is nicely summed up by the mix's epilogue at around the 90-min mark.)

The track selection is a blend of genres, some classics, but mostly fresh new music (or at least interesting flips & remixes). It's a blend of all my favorite vibes: Soul, R&B, Future Sounds, Reggae/Dancehall, Afrobeats and Hip-Hop. This mix was meant to take you on a cohesive journey, a seamless flow of simultaneously basking in the glow of love, but also the looking back, the nostalgic longing — after all, isn't this why we write so many love songs? Love helps us grow and feel more alive on this journey called life. So put on this mix when you're chilling with your partner, or all alone, and let go to the vibe of the present moment — surrender to both love and hurt — and have faith and trust in the universe, remembering that "this too, shall pass."

Kieran Meadows - Pieces Of My Heart (Mix)

Summer has finally left us and as temperatures begin to dip, the familiar magical chill of Fall sets in. This mix tries to capture that time of year. We long to hold on to summer, but we must say farewell. Many of us say goodbye to our summer flings, our summer love or summer love story. Remembering what once was as we begin feeling things shift all around us. That's where this mix begins: in the first few weeks of Autumn, with its symbolic and inevitable changing of tree leaves' colors — coinciding with when cuffing season drifts across our minds.  

This period can be a time of indecision and mixed emotions — if you're in a summer fling: should we continue this? That feeling when you want to, but your partner doesn't. Or that feeling when your partner does, but you don't. At the same time, it's going to be getting really cold soon, so shouldn't we just stay in this? That nostalgia for summer, that longing for the past when things were good — or alternatively with the onset of cuffing season and the feeling of time passing, that wanting, that longing for someone, for a future. The inherent contradiction, the tension between wanting to be in a relationship and not wanting to be in one is the overarching theme of this mix. 

It's made up of almost entirely new music (i.e. relatively recent releases) from many emerging/buzzing artists (as much as I could find songs that fit the concept/theme of the mix — luckily everyone writes songs about love!). Mostly R&B & Soul, with a sprinkling of Caribbean and Afrobeats vibes a half to 3/4 of the way through (yes, I know... my typical style lol).

The thing to remember while listening to these songs is that the ONLY THING CONSTANT IN LIFE IS CHANGE ITSELF and it's wisest to observe the beauty of it all in the same way we appreciate the gorgeous changing colors of the trees, right before the leaves fall. Hope you enjoy.

My last two mixes were thematic/concept mixes about love and cuffing season — i.e. very, very different than this one . So I decided the next one I did had to be about sex; I mean, I didn't want you to think I was getting too soft out here with all these chilled-out love mixes lol. If you know me, you know I've been into and collecting Jamaican dancehall records since I was a teenager. No genre fits this task better. Figured releasing this in the middle of Scorpio season was the move since you know what they say about all my fellow Scorpios between the sheets. It was a pleasure to put this dancehall mix together for you. Hope you enjoy and play at your next dance.
