This track was made in the spirit of Thanksgiving, writing about things they are grateful for and Jada dedicated this one to her Mom, who has been by her side through all the ups and downs. Jada also dabbles in beat making and helped put this beat together as well.

Chicago Comedian, Lexi Constantini, hosted a 3-day comedy songwriting workshop with our youth. "Pickles" ended up being a funny enough topic for them to write a song about, and that's just what they did! You get themes, storytelling, and of course comedy with this track. This was their first time writing a "funny" song. 

All three of these youth are considered veterans of the studio. For this session, they were able to break out of their usual serious artist mode, and make something goofy with this track.

Our new Brooklyn producer Zach came up to visit our Bronx studio to hang with the youth, deciding to cook up something from scratch with long-time member and brilliant guitarist, Lucas. Zach programmed some drums on the ableton push while Lucas and I figured out some parts to build out the track. Lucas has lately been inspired by the group, “Duster”, so we checked out some of those tracks for reference before piecing together our own interpretation. Check out the final mix on our soundcloud! Excited to see what Zach creates with the youth down in Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Rising vocalists Ana and Jannelis hopped into the vocal booth for their first professional studio recording session! They sang a cover of “Gabriela” by Katseye, practicing trading off vocal parts as well as singing in unison. Then I taught them about reharmonization and how many chords can function under simple melodies, before reharmonizing the whole track. Check out their unique rendition on our soundcloud!

Ana and Jannelis are both 10 years old. They are from the Bronx and are brand new members, having joined only 3 months ago. My studio is already their favorite place to visit in commonpoint.

We decided to come up with a track  about our phones being on 1percent something everyone can relate to so my self (Yung Dev) and Youth members thought it would be cool to create kind of a funny song about this subject the key Lesson we all learned from this is always keep a fully charge phone on you just incase of an emergency.

Miracle came in wanting to learn how to play this song on the guitar.  After practicing it for a couple days we decided to take it into the studio and record her singing a cover.

Miracle is 13 years old and has been a member for a few years.  She has been singing since she was young and is now studying guitar as well.
