Mjulev's ambient playground unfolds like a dreamscape; each meticulously crafted layer weaves in and out organically, drawing you deeper into a world of introspection. Mjulev - Clouds Are The Better Birds (Album Preview) [NL002]

Far Out Radio Systems, the brainchild of Belgian producer Thomas Neyens is about to take you on a journey unlike any other. His upcoming album, "Mariana No Death," plunges you into the inky depths of the Mariana Trench, where solace and sonic exploration collide.

This four-track sampler is your first taste of the album's immersive world. It features two album tracks and two exclusive cuts: the pulsating, analog beast "Raingods" and the hypnotic, slow-motion "The Oracle Emile" – perfect for late-night dives.

However, our focus today is on "Inside The Horizon," the opening track of the sampler, and the grand finale of "Mariana No Death." True to Neyens' signature sound, it features warm, analog broken beats, ethereal vocals, and melancholic pads. Clave hits echo in the distance like raindrops, adding a beautiful touch and keeping the rhythm alive. It's a melancholy yet triumphant return for Far Out Radio Systems.

"Inside the Horizon" drops on February 23rd, followed by the full "Mariana No Death" LP on March 22nd via Something Happening Somewhere.

She is known for releases on labels like ESP Institute, WARNING, or Tresor. She is part of bands like Init. She played them all, those clubs, that matter, and those that matter more. Live. Alone. As an artist. With a band. Here she comes with her first album. On the R.i.O. sphere. Her homebase. A trusted zone for experimentation. She brings “Duster”. Seven tunes twisted in different dreams. Today is a special one in the Delayed world as we’re overjoyed to premiere a tune from the second release on our label, Never Late. The culmination of many months of work, the release day is rapidly approaching, and we could be none the happier. For our second musical guest, we look to Basel-based artist Mjulev and his intimate album titled ‘Clouds Are The Better Birds’. Spanning 8 tracks, Mjulev guides listeners gently into his auditory psyche as he states about the album, 

"Clouds are the better birds - It becomes clear only through observing the clouds how slowly they float up there, so detached from everything that drives us down here. Truly liberated from the forward push and the hustle and bustle, from left to right, from branch to branch, always on guard, not to be accidentally eaten by a cat.

They just float, sometimes darker, sometimes lighter, sometimes faster, sometimes slower. When they meet, they merge and then continue floating as if they had always been one. Looking up feels so timeless. A longing that cannot be satisfied down here. It is omnipresent, but sometimes I manage, just for brief moments, but these are enough to understand what it would be like to be a cloud.

The special thing about the album for me is that it was not created in situations where I was a bird. It was created in moments where I had the headspace to be a cloud, and if it helps others to be like a cloud even just for a short time, then it was worth it, because these moments have become very rare.”

Our premiere, ‘Birds On Acid’ is the final track on the release, a rhythmic come-down that tugs at the heartstrings. Evoking a sense of finality and completeness. The plucks and textures play well with each other, complimenting both the analog fuzz and bright synths. Key features of the entire release.

Went in a bit too deep with this, spent hours tweaking the loop before finding the power to record it. Cut the jam short and it still came out at 15 minutes. Building a nice catalogue of these live recordings, feels like I'm getting some nice results. Will have to get some of these online soon if I can get a few more of this standard.

Premiere: Tul Waitoonkiat - Nueng Kamtham (Sleep D Remix)

Coming up on May 1: A profound musical package from the Dutch-Turkish artist, Okitap - Sis, is a cultural clash between his Turkish roots and his affinity for industrial, techno, gabber and earnest sonic exploration. EP opener “Cicek Suyu” plays out like Vangelis moved Blade Runner to Istanbul and replaced his Yamaha CS-80 with a Tulum, a traditional bagpipe known to Turkey. It’s dense, dark and intimidating. Luring you in to listen closer. Track 2, “Batarya” haunts and engulfs, breathing down your neck as you press in closer to make out the whispers before “Karsiyaka” punches you in the face. A virulently potent 90s goth sludge groove featuring the slicing Okitap vocals that challenge you to listen up. The EP’s closers “Nefes Al” and “Sis” lul you back out as you crawl away, a canvas for Okitap’s transporting, cinematic sound design adeptness.
