Colombia is going through one of the harshest economical and political crises in the last 30 years. COVID, state violence and increasing poverty have unleashed social protests with millions of citizens disapproving of President Duque's tax reform. Although held back, protests continued and Colombia's deep wounds have yet again resurfaced as inequality, racism and violence have been shown to be the system's true colors. The government's response to the social movement has been that of extreme brutality; massacres, rapings and human rights violations have been daily bread. Colombia and all the people who've been fighting for their rights need our help.

“ALL EYES ‘N' COLOMBIA’’, a VA conformed by 22 tracks and 28 artists, aims to be a humble but meaningful part of that help; an astonishing compilation fully merged into delightful electro, ghettotech, acid, breaks, idm bombs all gathered, mastered and served to the table in less than two weeks. All in order to raise the most funds possible during these hard days of fight and to spread the word in our music and artistic international community of what’s happening here in Colombia. 100% of the earnings will go to various press, health care, food and human rights local organizations. Sometimes you do things that you don't really understand until much later. You play drums in a band at school, you get immersed in the electronic layers behind video games, and then you fall in love with analogue machines. Veil has carefully woven all these stages into his project, which is as musical as it is visual.

His new opus, ‘Borrow My Eyes’, reflects his universe tinged with science fiction, UK influences, ambient and textural interplay. Variations in broken rhythms collide with flashes of electro and murky synthetic veils, creating a cinematography that is both raw and enveloping.

The four tracks provoke an experience that is both sonic on the outside and visual on the inside. Your eyes close and your mind opens up to Veil's mental screen, offering a slice of your memories that you can interpret with the nostalgia of your choice. The Dutchman job sifre offers a tangy, deconstructed version of this with his remix of the track ‘Pretty Light’.

It was the middle of the night, but you could barely notice. The streets were illuminated by towers of digital light, and the foot traffic was as busy as it had ever been downtown. A blaring, authoritative voice barked the hourly curfew warning through a megaphone, but nobody listened. As he gazed up in wonder, the world was reduced to a dull, static buzz. The moment fled. A scurrying stranger collided hard into his shoulder, shoving him violently back into reality. A hasty apology slithered out of the scoundrel’s mouth as he disappeared into the endless sea of busy bodies. He rubbed his shoulder. It wouldn’t be until later that he realised it was gone.

Berlin-based label Awkwardly Social celebrated their inaugural release last summer with an EP from Aroent, and now they’re back with the follow-up courtesy of live act and producer Lårry. After solid releases on Super Hexagon and Fusion Diagnostics, Lårry presents ‘Nines,’ a versatile four-tracker that moves through techno and bass soundscapes that each have their own character.

There's this mystery about Berlin-based Lårry even after having released several EPs on labels like Super Hexagon Records, Uncertainty Principle or Fusion Diagnostics as not much is known about them. However, it's time to bring some light into the darkness and speaking of the latter Lårry have a preference for these things as they draw inspiration from computer games especially from the horror genre. Evidently their upcoming EP Nines on Awkwardly Social is musically and namely influenced by them. Shortly before the release and their live-set for HÖR we spoke to Lårry about their musical upbringing, Apfeltaschen, how their new EP came about and how they approach their productions. Additionally you can exclusively stream the EP's title track Nines and dive into the sound-cocoon artist and music provide.

Lårry's EP Nines will be released on Awkwardly Social on March 5th, 2021.
