ZFG creator/founder Andru Defeye has shared stages with revolutionary poets (Jared Paul, Bonafide Rojas, Jack Hirschman) and world renowned Hip Hop acts (GZA, Pete Rock, Atmosphere) alike and worked to create innovative spaces for art in West Coast communities. As a poet, emcee, and host he has performed everywhere from art museums to festival stages while working as a published journalist and designing a Hip Hop based curriculum that meets common core standards in classrooms.

They rep the "Town" otherwise known as Oakland, California, a place known for crime and danger, but filled with incredible art, music and a beacon of social justice and activism. That's where Antique Naked Soul was born in the Spring of 2012. Two-time Oakland Indie Award and Oaktown Music Festival Nominee, Antique Naked Soul (ANS) is a beatbox-sing soul band. They build and loop beats live on stage using only their voices but they create as much sound as a full band of instruments. There are four beautiful souls in this band: Candice "Antique" Davis, Tommy "Soulati" Shepherd, Jayme Brown and N'gala McCoy. They got together by accident or happy coincidence. They came together to play one show. Lead singer Antique recalls, “We had no name, no identity really. After the show, we got such a great response that we looked at each other and said, ‘We gotta keep doing this!’. So we started taking songs that I had recorded, but not released, and translating them into beatbox and later, my husband was just casually saying, ‘y’all do naked soul’ and that is how we got the name.” It was important to them to have a message and to be hip-hop preservationists. Soulati states, “We knew that we wanted to preserve a classic hip-hop flair through beatboxing and stay really soulful with our vocals, but we also felt a deep calling to stay true to Oakland’s political roots. We wanted to be the soundtrack of the struggle, the beautiful struggle for freedom and equality.” Antique Naked Soul released their debut album October of 2013. 

Antique Naked Soul has performed with several incredible artists including, Talib Kweli, Les Nubians, Yasiin Bey aka. Mos Def, ?uestlove, Blackalicious and have performed at renown venues like Yoshi’s Oakland, the Regency Ballroom, The New Parish, Herbst Theatre and DNA Lounge to name a few. They are currently working on their second album and a theatre piece called “The Naked Soul: A Soundscape of Black Shame”. They are excited to share their music and art with the world. “We believe in the power of music to transform people and culture. We want to be world changers.”

Ida Divine has flourished into one of the most apt, and exquisite Independent Artist in her genre. She is that oddity that can deliver the Motown style of song without missing a pitch. Her voice is intense and sultry, and when those lyrics are set free during performances or even a practice session, she seduces the hearts and minds of any listener that takes an interest in her.

IDA has hit singles such as “Grow Up,” “Time,”  “IG My Shoe Game” and “Sometimes” just to name a few ; these singles have traveled worldwide to California, New York, Philadelphia, Georgia, Miami, Virginia, Chicago, Nairobi, Ghana, Nigeria, Toronto, Australia, Paris and Poland. She’s performed alongside Phonte, Lady Saw, Raekwon, Dead Prez, Anthony David,  Pete Rock & CL Smooth and Naughty By Nature. She won Best R&B female vocalist for the Carolina Music Awards in 2009 for her a mix tape release “1979” after being out for only a short span of six months. Ida also won Best Female
R&B artist at the 2012, Queen City Awards. Hanus TV nominated Ida for her best cover, and produced rendition recordings of “Poison.” This “Divine” entity has a feature in Four Magazine, Creative Loafing, Ihiphop, The Examiner, On Smash, Hanus TV, and Rodney Perry Live. Ida Divine’s following compare her style and delivery to the Multi Grammy Award Winner Lauryn Hill. In my opinion, there is no comparison to another artist or lyricist. With her project “Molecular Legato”, her statement is clear, and she is just a creative damsel that’s stressing the message of artistic freedom. Ida’s humble, and peaceful nature is a great deal like “Razia Sultana”. When you combine those two strong qualities with her bravura, lyrical expression, in addition to her slayer-stage presence; you already know that she is the definition of artistry ascended, and has created a new trend of evolutionary-soul.
