"This mix was just an attempt to pull together what I’ve tried to do in my last few sets and represent a bit of myself. It goes through a few different styles, moods and BPMs, and I tried to pull together all the amazing dance music being made around the world. I was really happy with the way it all came together!"

Impact: Jabes

Jabes is a South London producer and DJ making moves following independent releases on Klunk and a recent collaboration with UK underground Bass come Techno stalwart Happa.

His sound draws upon a lineage of experimental music rooted in UK bass culture, built upon the influences of big sound systems, small dark smoky rooms and hooded nights spent lurking outside pubs on street corners.

His music is atmospheric and dense, leading to recent support from Batu who has just released his new EP on longstanding label and club night Timedance.  For fans of the label, this release comes with a certain degree of expectation in respect of sound design and tone – it doesn’t fail to disappoint.

Jabes looks set to have a promising future and we fully expect to see him banging down clubs and festivals this coming year and if this mix is anything to go by then we suggest ear plugs as standard.

This one is sick.

Based in Amsterdam, @pariah_uk (Arthur Cayzer) is a distinguished British music producer and DJ. He co-founded the Voam record label alongside Blawan (Jamie Roberts), and the two have collaborated extensively for more than a decade, performing and releasing music together as Karenn and Persher. His output reflects a patient pursuit of physical and emotional impact, liberated from genre limitations.

Last year, when we wrote that "the best UK garage is coming out of Los Angeles," we were talking about Introspekt. The US DJ, who has since moved to New York, really understands the genre—its appeal, swing and unique, bassy whomp. Listen to any of her tracks, like last year's "Forlorn," and you'll hear someone who produces like she's been making UKG all her life. This is probably partly because she comes from a dubstep background, but either way, if you're looking for new UK garage beats, Introspekt is one of the best going right now.

Her DJing also hits a distinct sweet spot, zeroing in one of the proto-dubstep, dark UK garage days when producers like El-B were making the hottest shit around. Her sound is both retro and forward-looking, as you'll hear on her RA Podcast, which balances vintage Big Apple cuts from Skream & Benga with new-school tunes from Amaliah and Surusinghe. It's not so much a throwback as it is a rejuvenation of an old sound—a new way to look at it and a new way to make it. If hindsight is 20/20, then Introspekt has perfect vision, and mixes like this are the perfect way to educate listeners, make them move and innovate a little in the process.

An Australian spotlight from one of the country’s shining stars, Andy Garvey.

Hailing from Sydney, Andy Garvey has cemented herself as a formidable force in the industry through her various projects that are all tied together by one centring mission - championing those around her and providing a platform to some of the sickest underground sounds. This is done through her platform Pure Space - a party, mix series and record label - focusing on ‘so-called Australian music’ as well as her previous residency on FBi Radio. Her work in radio and as a promoter underscores her commitment to nurturing the next generation of artists and pushing the boundaries of the genre.

Now back in Europe for the summer, where she’ll be based in Berlin, we catch up with Andy before the busy schedule begins. In the accompanying interview, we chat about first fandoms, how living in Australia has informed her work, a little peak into the curation behind Pure Space, Andy’s journey with production and Australian artists she'd like to put on your radar.

Hello! Welcome back to G-FORCE as we head into the third edition for the iconic Monaco Grand Prix. With the season starting very dramatically off track, it’s nice to finally see things heating up on track. We’re finally being treated to some spicy race day action. Lando Norris has won his first ever F1 race in Miami (not sure how he pulled that one out the bag with a broken nose from Kingsday celebrations earlier in the week - god bless the powers that be Martin Garrix), Charles Leclerc is back on the podium again, Max Verstappen has beef with cones, Leo Leclerc has quite rightly entered the chat, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton’s rivalry continues, Valtteri Bottas is a new favourite off track (a content king shall we say) and in all honestly, we’re just holding out for Daniel Riccardo to score some points.  Oh and the question on everyone’s lips… where will Newey go? 

We’re so excited to have Australian-born, London-based DJ and producer Surusinghe on the series — a well-known Lando girlie but this could all change in the blink of an eye as mentioned in the accompanying interview, performances matters! Channeling the rollercoaster energy of race day, things kick off in breathtaking style before settling into the track with anticipation of a safety car moment. 

Taking on the most famous race in the F1 calendar, Monaco has been in the schedule since the first modern F1 world championship in 1950 - one of seven venues. However, the first edition was in 1929 as an invitation-only race with 16 cars participating - only 3 were able to complete the scheduled 100 laps. A very challenging street race which doesn’t leave much room for overtaking, Ayrton Senna has the most pole positions and wins for this race. It’s history is filled with so much drama and iconic moments, one shown on our socials this week with Kimi going from DNF to getting incredibly lit yacht style. When in Monaco, right.

Nick León (@NICKLEON) is an artful DJ and producer from Miami who has always operated at the experimental fringes of electronic music. Though he has always pushed at the boundaries he never fully loses sight of the dance floor while colliding reggaeton, techno, ambient, dubstep and hip-hop. He is a frequent collaborator and something of an album specialist who most recently took inspiration from Florida’s diverse sub-aquatic ecosystems on his superb Projections of a Coral City album alongside Coral Morphologic.

Nick will be joining us at Dekmantel Festival 2024 and this week's mix is a great way to keep you going until then. It's an hour of loose-limbed and largely genre-less rhythm with a naturalistic feel. There's a blend of filtered and futuristic voices and centuries-old dancing rituals that take you to the heart of an ancient rainforest, all with his signature Latin flavours and an undercurrent dembow-laced beats.
