Next up in our mix series is our co-founder Marius Bø. Marius' musical journey finds its origins nestled amidst the Norwegian forests. It is here, between the trees and rustling leaves, that his sound took root, hosting and playing parties deep in the woods, since the first gatherings back in 2017. From hazy braindance to high-energy vibrations in mist-shrouded forests, balmy shores and dimly-lit basements - with appearances in clubs like Pawnshop, Bassiani and Macadam, to festivals like Monument and Organik - Marius' music takes a gentle yet firm grip on the soul, all with an organic and trippy spirit, resonating diverse settings from intimate club settings to verdant outdoor scenes.

In this episode, Marius takes us on a two-hour trip, connecting the dots of old school psychedelic records mixed with forthcoming and unreleased bits. Expect acid-infused grooves, warm basslines and trippy arpeggios weaving and rising seamlessly, creating a spiralling euphoria that works both the body and mind.

Takumi Inamoto’s one of two minds behind Transcendence (the other fellow beat hawker DJ Maria), the Kanto region’s highest proposal for community-oriented music nights. It’s a rave collective that’s proven a trusty channel for his brand of squelchy, Goa-infused trance, profound and ritualistic techno with a direct line to the limbic brain. An expansive sound that has evolved from a keen affinity with Japanese rave culture and out of his steadily growing collection of CDs and records. This master selector deals in skittish rhythms and ominously brewing atmospherics, and walks a hazy path through the twilight realm that precipitates a kind of reverence that’s often rare. From his native land to KUNE Festival and Amsterdam's Garage Noord, these prolific beats are exporting a style palpably his and putting his sigil on the ascendant. Bassiani Podcast 238 is his prototypical sound, a throbbing mass of beats that morphs larger in the direction of unmapped worlds, a two-hour studio mix that unapologetically pulls you towards its slick and hazy centre.

It’s back to the Norwegian woods with Mikkel Rev for Bassiani Podcast 259. Alongside Oprofessionel he moonlights as Omformer, and co-spearheads the Oslo-based UTE collective, famous for offering mystical forest raves, memorable club nights and their take-home recordings via digital/vinyl outlet UTE.REC (and sub-label Translusid). Trance is the main thrust, but an updated and savvy manifestation of it that’s more than suited to 2025, furnishing its breakneck rhythms with the experimental slant of its IDM and ambient forebears. It’s an elevated approach to a known genre, and perhaps at the bleeding edge of its future potential, keeping sound and woodland birthplace tethered crucial to its mission. As well as a number of EPs out on his homespun label, he’s apt to explore the fringes of his sound and export its singular voice across the map: intelligent trance with a strong emotional charge. This latest instalment keeps that promise with Mikkel on top form, an hour of cathartic beats recorded live at Bassiani: supernatural and stylish fare for sylvan nighttime gatherings.
