Wavecord is a DJ crew formed in 2016, playing mostly broad range of Disco. With the founder DJ Mellan, all members(Baxa, Tiger Disco, Junmo, Jesse You) have different taste within the genre of Disco. Baxa who is also a designer, taking care of visual outputs. Wavecord DJs are really focusing on presenting all aspects of genre, hidden or leftfield, new or classic, for instance, from underground Italo gems to Post-Punk influenced music which has some clue to Disco. So to say, we call it Disco more like a sense of ‘discothèque’ that is a meaning from 'record library'. No barrier, no boundaries, just spreading happiness and joy. Wavecord stands for it. 

Wavecord  2016년 결성된 크루로, 넓은 범위의 디스코를 다룬다. 디제이 Mellan을 중심으로 Baxa, Tiger Disco, Junmo, Jesse You가 참여하고 있다. 장르로서의 디스코는 따지자면 그 이미지만큼은 어떤 댄스 음악 장르보다 확고하다. 또한 그것은 각종 대중매체와 음악계에서도 ‘레트로’든 ‘누 디스코’든 여러 형태로 소비된다. 환영할 일이며, 간혹 대단한 히트를 기록하기도 한다. 디스코가 흥미로운 것은 지금의 힙합처럼 차트와 클럽 어느 쪽에서도 위력을 발휘할 수 있다는 점이다. 반면 이런 특징 때문에, 노출된 빙산의 일각이 그 장르 전체를 규정하는 위험요소가 되기도 한다. 모두가 디스코를 환영하지만, 모자 삐딱하게 쓰고 속사포 같은 랩을 퍼붓는 것만을 힙합이라 할 수 없듯, 디스코를 반짝이와 나팔바지, 나아가 70년대 쾌락주의의 유산으로만 떠올리는 것은 부당하다. Wavecord가 말하는 디스코는 차라리 그저 원래 ‘레코드 라이브러리’나 나이트클럽을 뜻하던 불어 ‘discothèque’에 더 가까이 닿아 있다. 댄스 음악의 원형으로서, 춤출 수 있는 음악이라면 포스트 펑크든, 신스팝이든, 뉴웨이브든, 이탈로 디스코든, 그들의 아버지 세대 음악이든, 오늘 발매된 레코드든 기꺼이 수용하던 시기의 태도가 결국 디스코라는 이름으로 남았다는 입장으로, 우리는 그렇게 국가와 인종을 초월하는 디스코를 지지한다.
