Set the Mood welcomes Alfonso Hernando (a.k.a. Tare), a devoted selector whose perspective on the perfect opening set is as thoughtful as his music. For Alfonso, a warm-up is not just about playing slower tracks; it's about shaping a sonic environment, gradually building tension, and allowing the night to find its natural rhythm. In this set, he carefully selected dub techno records that embody this ethos: deep, atmospheric sounds that suit both a dance floor slowly waking up and a serene sunset. His approach is guided by subtlety, depth, and calm.

A passionate lover of techno and house, Alfonso is a Spanish DJ based in Utrecht, the Netherlands. His deep connection to vinyl and constant search for new sonic textures have shaped sets that blend emotional depth, rhythmic energy, and a strong musical narrative. After years of collecting records and refining his craft, Alfonso has played on local radio stations and club nights, and now leads MORPH — a platform dedicated to celebrating vinyl culture and the underground scene in the Netherlands.

His vinyl-only sessions invite listeners into immersive journeys through atmospheric techno, raw house, and hypnotic rhythms, with a clear influence from the cutting edge of the European scene. With every set, Alfonso creates space for connection, movement, and exploration.

DJ Sodeyama’s been around since the 90s, a Tokyo-based whizz and DJ’s DJ, whose career has offered the type of sound many selectors would envy. It’s incredibly sharp, meandering along its intelligent thread in unexpected and high-minded ways. Since the early noughties he could add producer to his soubriquet too, flexing his minimal muscle with early releases, a steady stream of ensuing ventures further cementing his craft via Korean-based deep techno distributor Artscope, Dynamic Reflection, illegal alien, Daybreak and many more. He’s also explored adjacent genres and ventured into the world of house under his parallel alias The People In Fog. Pretty full plate, but the quality of his sound has suffered nothing for it. His techno is an expert tapestry of interlaced details and lingering moods, injected with raw feeling and undeniable skill. It darts from peak to peak, fusing frequencies riddled with forward-pitched elements and vivid effects, and forges a long-range feeling that abuts the realm of both man and machine. Thick and volatile techno that serves as proof that the genre can keep expanding outwards in fresh and surprising ways. Bassiani Podcast 260 moves the needle further, it's quintessential Sodeyama: vivid climbs and steep descents, warped vocal samples, brave and unbending beats for prime-time raving.

His deep connection with Black Wave — a collective of hypnotic and deep techno enthusiasts — reflects this versatility. As a result, Kameu’s sets have resonated everywhere from the wild forests of Lithuania and the raw confines of underground clubs to the global stage of Boiler Room broadcasts.

His performances are as varied as his ventures, shifting seamlessly from relentless functional techno to immersive deep cuts and ambient-like pulsations, spanning everything from old-school classics to cutting-edge releases. Kameu masterfully balances the nuances of both listening and dancefloor experiences, creating sets that are thoughtful, energetic, and consistently captivating.
