I'm Not Nothing I'm Something

My guitar memory is almost always in-check, regardless of whether or not I can remember why I walked into this room. 

It was about six years ago that this EP started cooking. I bought a Teisco hollowbody with literally the biggest vibrato arm I've ever seen. It would have been in the way if I hadn't used it, so I started using it, and then I started searching out some other prominent vibrato users - Nokie, Takeshi Terauchi, and eventually landed on Chet as well. I started making an effort to write instrumental "surf" ish songs, and put a little list together for O'er Field and Stream to record. But we didn't record it. (We recorded maybe five tracks during that session, two of them got released eventually.)

That was four years ago. Now I've recorded a real version, as I intended. What's it all mean? I don't have to remember it anymore!

Built Into A Mountain

Played on a capoed 12-string, this was kind of inspired by the spirit of an epic journey. My wife and I took a road trip out West in our old Saturn the first year we were dating and really had an unforgettable and amazing two weeks together, journeying through mainly Montana and Washington. The start of that journey was on Highway 94...
