How the US wages economic war on countries all around the world

An excerpt from dawn (from an unattended longer recording running from late afternoon to early morning) featuring Gilbert's Whistler, singing with two distinctive kinds of calls, with some variations of each: characteristic 'chopping' calls, and melodic calls (in phrases comprising between one to four repetitions/transpositions of a melodic motif).

Other bird species heard include the Australian Magpie, Common Bronzewing, Crested Bellbird, Grey Butcherbird, Grey Shrike-thrush, Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater, Spotted Pardalote, Striated Pardalote, White-browed Babbler. Of mammals, a kangaroo barking and grunting, and what is most probably a feral goat bleating, can sometimes be heard in the distance.

This recording was made with a microphone rig comprising four supercardioid microphones in an IRT Cross /double NOS array. This is the  original recording (all four tracks), with only slight EQ applied (low cut of 6 dB/octave below 50 Hz, and a gentle bell curve with peak of +2 dB at 1900 Hz). Two passages from the one recording have been joined together but are otherwise unedited.

Recorded respectfully and mindfully on the land of the Meru and Danggali peoples.

An ambient piece born on the banks of the Ganges, built around an improvised bansuri solo by Ananda Deep Murli, recorded in his ashram in Varanasi during my journey through India.

A fragile dialogue between flute and silence, it carries the weight of the sacred city: its bells, prayers, and river flow, and turns it into a dreamlike memory.

This track is not only a soundscape but also a testimony: a living fragment of a moment in time, captured like a whisper that would otherwise fade away.

All proceeds from its sales will support the creation of Ananda’s musical ashram in Varanasi, nurturing his vision of a place where music becomes a form of healing.

Hector Plimmer's remix reassembles elements from another Sasson original, "Cantos Campesinos", focusing on a particular vocal motif. Hector re-tunes the rhythm to his purposes, building tension and borrowing a bell sound to raise it even further, before releasing a skittering drum pattern with plenty of swing and a heavy dose of low end. Before the song ends, Hector goes deeper, adding sensual synth chords and finally a flute-like synth solo to complete this musical trip that is surely destined to soundtrack a few hazy evenings this summer. This is the only available stream of the remix.
