Godriguez first stepped onto the international hip hop scene as the creative force behind Sampa The Great's breakthrough release "The Great Mixtape". His unique blend of jazz and avant-garde samples with a distinctly raw production aesthetic helped secure the mixtapes release through tastemaker label Wondercore Island which saw it receive high rotation from Triple J and recognition around the world including a premiere on OkayPlayer. 

In the year following it's release Godriguez continued to be a major force in the Sampa project, taking on the role of musical director pulling together a stellar line-up of musicians to reinterpret his beats in a live context. This live project performed at major Australian festivals such as Splendour In The Grass and Laneway and played supports for Kendrick Lamar and Fat Freddy's Drop among others.

Since then Godriguez has continued to grow in stature as a solo artist and producer working on original production for Wallace and remixes for Polographia and Winston Surfshirt and playing solo sets at Volumes Festival, Triple J's Mix Up and in support slots for Hiatus Kaiyote at Somerset House in London, Black Milk and Koi Child. His solo productions have also been featured on compilations by Wondercore Island and TAXX as well as received airplay from Triple J and support from major blogs Vice/Noisy, THUMP and Purple Sneakers.

Looking in the future it's the crossover between live music and production that's most exciting for Godriguez pushing the boundaries of improvised music within a framework of hip hop, jazz, soul and psychedelia. Working with the tastiest line-up of instrumentalists he's put together, keep an eye out for the exciting new direction in Godriguez' music.

Born worshipping vinyl through his parents’ living room stereo, Caural (born Zachary Mastoon)based temples at his sparkly blue drum set, the Casio PT-80 and guitar. He was soon skinning his knees skateboarding with childhood neighbor Stuart Bogie (Arcade Fire, TV on The Radio, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra), and capturing youthful interpretations of early 80's Hip Hop, new wave and pop radio hits together on cassette. Playing an amalgam of jazz influenced punk in their early teens, they went on to co-found Transmission in 1991, a group which later took a more experimental turn with the addition of saxophonist Colin Stetson. 

Equally in love with rap and shoegaze, Mastoon clarified his voice with Anthony Braxton at Wesleyan University and an around-the-world gamelan orchestra aboard Semester At Sea; however, it was during his final year at NYU in 1999 that he began fusing his disparate influences quite literally with a Yamaha SU700. A CD-R of his first four compositions was slipped from his coworker at the turntablism-pioneering Asphodel Records to the head of Toshoklabs, and the first Caural album had found a home. 

A critically acclaimed catalog of original material and remixes for Chocolate Industries, Mush, Plug Research, Sound in Color, and other early foundation builders of the "beat scene" followed. It was in early 2006 that he teamed up with LA emcee Busdriver to tour with everyone from Aceyalone through Deerhoof, often bloodying fingers and accidentally tearing knobs off his sampler on stage.

"Slakah the Beatchild", or “Beatchild” as he is now known, has been making our heads nod with his signature soulful sound since the inception of his iconic Soul Movement Volumes I (2008) and II (2012). A compilation series of elegant, feel-good soul and hip hop written and produced entirely by Beatchild and featuring noteworthy artists such as Drake ("Bad Meaning Good", "Share"), Glenn Lewis ("Number 1"), Divine Brown ("Crate Love") amongst others.
In an unexpected shift of sound Beatchild followed up with an album under a new moniker - The Slakadeliqs. "The Other Side of Tomorrow” (2010) was a critically acclaimed album which pulled from hip-hop, soul, folk, pop, psychedelic rock - pretty much any sound found in a dusty crate of vinyl.
