PURPLE is the first of many albums in the CHROMATIC series. I wanted to take my music in more of a Pop-oriented songwriter direction while not neglecting my EDM and Bass production roots. A good majority of the songs on the album reflect the concept of minimalism, doing more with less. I tried to really only add instruments where they were needed or felt necessary as opposed to just building layers just to build them up.

Ohpal is the brainchild of music producer, composer, and songwriter Jacob Reed Williams. Starting off as a covid-lockdown excuse to return to his EDM roots back in 2020, Ohpal has gone from a pet project to a provocative sound that can fit in any lane. Some refer to his sound as “genre-less”, comparing him to artists like Porter Robinson, DROELOE, and glaive.
