The ambiguous title "NºXX" refers to both the Latin writing for night and number twenty. Much as "Tenth" (Other Heights, 2010) was a closing album for the Reduct series 1 to 9, "NºXX" is a closing album for the Reduct series 11 to 19.

As the reference in the title to night suggests, the music is all about nocturnal dub vibes, weaving through moonlit ambient clouds.

Out of the will to support his healing process through music, Master Minded idea to create specific and diverse journeys was manifested into reality.
Life is full of distractions and sometimes are not so easy to digest. "Sound Support'' came to bring calmness, soft intensity that melts into love, and a vibration of lying back and relaxing the body during self-therapy or having some sort of a healing session with another therapist.

Dutch DJ and producer Vincent Kriek aka HP Vince is returns and has joined forces with fellow Dutch artists Acid Junkies aka Harold de Kinderen and Stefan Robbers on the sublime Acid 1988. With an impressive repertoire at Bonzai, we're delighted to see Vincent back at the helm. His back catalogue contains numerous mouth watering progressive, trance and tech cuts that continue to inspire. His last Basiks outing - City Jungle, gained great support and gave us a crucial insight into the diversity of this guys talents. Harold and Stefan bring their no holds barred party style to the Basiks table. They love to mix it up at gigs and play to the crowd with the music they love.  They play no particular style as their philosophy is purely about the music and the joy it can bring. The best part of 20 years together have allowed them to take raw acid sounds and add their own ingredients to come up with some of the coolest cuts around, great to see them on board and hope to see more in the future.

We kick off with HP Vince's Mix that sets the scene for an evolution of sound and acid grooves. A smooth and steady tempo is driven by punchy kicks, crispy hats and sharp claps that form the perfect platform for the track to thrive. The acid line arrives and from here you get locked on for the duration. Expertly tweaked parameters ensure maximum acid effect complete with some very, very cool vocals that give the track a true retro feel. Amazing stuff that will definitely get the attention of many.

Acid Junkie's Mix is up next and picks up perfectly where the previous mix left off. A faster paced groove ensues with the acid tweaks coming thick and fast, ever evolving and cascading beautifully over the sound. The addition of archived news reports narrating on the drugs link to acid house is a nice touch and feeds into the 20th century pop culture which touched o many. A brilliant display of retro acid that will evoke lots of memories from yesteryear.

DJ Vincenzo take it to the next level with his remix ass the acid lines are taken up an octave and the drums are given a techno makeover. A very raw sound comes through which is perfect for acid house. The spoken vocals are a great insight into the talk of the time around the acid scene. The kicks are beefed up and given a punchy electro vibe which will definitely appeal to many, top notch stuff indeed.

Fortunately FLAC encoding does stay true to 96kHz resolution.

One of the standout tracks from Joey Negro’s Produced With Love album and a firm favourite of Gilles Peterson, "Distorting Space Time" gets the full remix treatment.

Kicking it off is Chicago legend Ron Trent, who provides his own take on the original funked out, Arthur Russell flavour, moving it into deeper, more housed up territory.

Fouk bring their hazy, jazz tinged style building the remix around those warm Rhodes chords, shuffling rhythm and low pulsating bassline. 

Joey Negro adds his own new Space Funk remix featuring Kaidi Tatham on keys which is a deep, jazzy broken beat groove with extra vocoder solo from Sunburst regular Tony Remy.

Based on the stylistic content of the compilation, the boundaries of it can be outlined by tracks from BT Gate X-138, which turned out to be the most noisy and ambient, and Spacedrome, which turned out to be tech with shades of minimal. Also on the collection there are references to reggae music in the track from Khlev with melodic vocal inserts. In the rest of the compositions can clearly be seen the love of the authors to dub techno music, their identity and approach to producing, their depth and perspectives on contemporary sound. "...Next up steps Sharif Laffrey to remix ‘Techno Cave’. For me Sharif’s productions are like a modern take on the Ron Hardy vibe. It literally is mental edits, fat as you like analogue house, and a sound that makes me want to go and hear them out in a club. For me he sort of (massively accidentally) seems to pull together some of the best music of the last 30 years in a modern way. It’s like the cuts and edits from the Latin Rascals meets the aforementioned Ron Hardy vibe of cut and paste disco with mad bottom end and fx in a modern and warm production style. He’s ace. Ah yeah the mix… Again its proper messed up edited house for the heads that would weirdly work on any dancefloor."

His much acclaimed “Reduct” series made him stand out as one of the top dub techno producers in the Netherlands, and he is still standing strong with a steady stream of releases and remixes on labels throughout the world. Besides dub techno, Arjen has been tailoring the ‘Berlin-school’ sound to his own unique sonic identity, alongside his ever expanding amount of ambient and meditative drone music.
