There is beauty everywhere, both inside and out. In Mother Nature and in People.
I live in a city that is very multicultural, and there are beautiful people everywhere.
I wanted to reflect that in the video for this song.

I like to vibe at different restaurants (with music). The same morning I wrote this song. I try to stay true to my creation process. Never cutting a song short and letting the song flow naturally from beginning to end. Photo by Mike Jones.


Il y a de la beauté partout, à l'intérieur comme à l'extérieur. Dans Mère Nature et dans les gens. Je vis dans une ville très multiculturelle et il y a de belles personnes partout.

 Je voulais refléter cela dans la vidéo de cette chanson.  J'aime vibrer dans différents restaurants (avec de la musique). Le matin même, j'ai écrit cette chanson. J'essaie de rester fidèle à mon processus de création. Ne jamais écourter une chanson et la laisser couler naturellement du début à la fin.

Quería reflejar eso en el video de esta canción.  Me gusta vibrar en diferentes restaurantes (con música). La misma mañana escribí esta canción. Intento ser fiel a mi proceso de creación. Nunca acortar una canción y dejar que la canción fluya naturalmente de principio a fin.

Field recordings are always something fresh and generate ideas. They are not just an element for me, and often become the track itself. It’s all about texture! For instance, I can share the story of one of the tracks: the Lugansk region is very rich in deposits of coal, and, as a result, there are a lot of coal enterprises and mines in the region. The people living there are all in some way connected to it. It can be a relative or a friend working in one of these mines. Those who grow up in Lugansk, like myself, always ask their parents and friends about what it is like in the depths of the Earth. I’ve been told all about how a mine works, but I only have a mental image of it.

Now, sound can brighten and strengthen our idea of a specific place, and by hearing what actually goes on down there my mental image becomes complete (and not just for me). As a result, I decided I had to find a way of recording what goes on inside a coal mine. People who don’t work there are not allowed anywhere near a mine and least of all to go down one of them. With great difficulty, one day, though, I persuaded a friend of mine to take my digital recorder to work with him (even if it was forbidden). His team worked directly on the lower levels! He didn’t know how to use the recorder nor what I specifically wanted him to record, so I just told him: just click the REC button before descending and this will be more than enough. And as a result he got me a recording made at a depth of 926 meters. It was incredible, something similar to the sound of a flooded cave. The sound rising from the depths was similar to the sound of the airplane.

I then made a looped sample and combined it with guitar sounds and processed it using echo and delay. The result is a collage of field recordings and guitar sounds, telling us about a kind of reversed event, when something good and bright becomes cold and dark, when winter comes after spring. This is a kind of allegory about the hard work of people working there, of their mood when they go down.

Звуковой коллаж, цель которого заключается в попытке изобразить город Стамбул.А именно ту его часть, которую мы воспринимаем на слух, и храним в памяти в виде собирательного аудио образа. Указать на важнейшую духовную связь жителей с их городом, через то, что они слышат в своей повседневности. Записи делались в течении нескольких дней в различных частях города. На вокзале Сиркеджи, место, которое являлось конечной точкой прибытия  Восточного экспресса, пассажирского терминала культурно-исторического центра города, так же основной и ведущей темой данного звукового коллажа является запись поющего муэдзина, сделанная в храмовом дворе городской Мечети Султана Ахмеда, (Голубая Мечеть), которая является является одним из самых ярких и выдающихся образцов исламской и мировой архитектуры.

"Dream Catcher" for us is something we would come back to throughout our lives, both as listeners and as authors for it carries a huge portion of verve. It was composed from the beginning to end with an amazing amount of inspiration that kept the powerful stream of ideas, moving us further and further on this venture. We hope we were capable of capturing some of these images into sounds and deliver them to you. The album was mostly composed sequentially, that's why we decided to keep the most of it in a single track to underline the theme of one thing transforming into another as your thoughts move from it as it often happens when you sleep. When one is seeing a dream it is hard to tell when it started or how he got here because it's in a constant change yet all is still connected.

Oil Texture is a media artist and experimental music project, founded by UNIX/Linux systems engineer Vitaly Lebukhorsky, started in Luhansk, Ukraine in 2012.
Since 2014 I've lived in different countries and record material there on my recorder, portable shortwave receiver and DIY devices. Last years I lived in Ukraine and Latvia, now I live in Montreal, Canada.  The project works with such styles as Ambient, Field recordings, and experiments with radio communication.
