My introduction to playlists was at 7 years old. My Uncle Des would bring home CDs every night from his job at SONY and put me on to all kinds of artists and sounds. We would sit and listen to albums from front to back, everything from Rakim to Phil Collins. My life is centered around music in so many ways and I owe it to him. He was my biggest inspiration.

He passed away 3 years ago and as I was wrapping up this playlist, I realized we are approaching his birthday. So this ‘We Are Alive’ Playlist 21 is dedicated to him. I miss you every day, Uncle Des.

The project was developed to inspire collective healing through sound and stillness. With the lead track voiced by rapper Big K.R.I.T. and accompanying short film visualizer directed and edited by Andrew Morrow ("Lemonade", "Black Is King").
