Hailed as one of the original pioneers of trance, Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto Fluoro label has been releasing the more underground sounds of trance, Goa and progressive for the last twenty years. 

The 1996 release of “Fluoro” – a ground breaking Oakenfold compilation that not only introduced the futuristic sounds of Goa trance to a wider audience but also pushed the boundaries of the traditional template for a DJ mix album by fusing film samples, elements of score and other sources of audio to enhance and create a completely new journey. Fast forward 18 years and “Fluoro” is still a widely revered album of legendary status. 

Today – Paul’s Perfecto Fluoro label and FullOnFluoro Radio show continue to source and promote interesting and unique talent from around the world and this latest album acts as a show reel to a number of those names including Simon Patterson, Angryman, Liquid Soul, Thomas Datt and of course the return of the original Fluoro legend Man with No Name. 

Over two CDs Paul Oakenfold crafts a melodic and seamless progression that builds in intensity and momentum. This is an energetic exploration into the varying boundaries of trance and all of its sub genres.

Lee Coombs started his DJing career in the late 80's producing his first track under the guise of The Invisible Men. With a chance meeting with Finger Lickin label boss Justin Rushmoore Lee found a home to release his special brand of music.

This mix was recorded for Triple J Radio Australia in 2003 and is an example of Lee's musical style.

Well where do i start ? Commonly known as “The Godfather of Breaks” Rennie Pilgrem’s contribution to the early Nuskool Breaks scene is outstanding and given this title is often considered responsible for the creation of the Nuskool Breaks genre. Before moving into breaks Rennie produced techno and acid house and was part of the influential rave group Rhythm Section along with Ellis Dee. Rennie is also the boss of Thursday Club Recordings aka TCR a label which he founded in 1993. TCR records was a major force in the Nuskool Breaks scene. Now concentrating more on his talented art skills Rennie has stepped back from the dance scene and continues to produce some great works of art.

This relatively hard to find mix was given away for free with the February issue of Mixmag in 2001 and comes directly from my CD collection. Entitled "Mixmag Presents Elastic Breaks - The Sound Of Breakbeat mixed by the Plump Djs" it was one sort after mix at the time and one that was on high rotation in my CD player. This mix pretty much launched the careers of the Plump DJs and gained them more of a following on a global scale.

Lanx and Nick Slater, aka the Drumattic Twins, have been a leading force in dance music since they first began touring over 20 years ago. Making their name as Shades of Rhythm, they ruled the early nineties rave scene with legendary anthems ‘Sweet Sensation’, ‘Sound of Eden’, ‘Extacy’ and ‘Homicide’ and performed with the likes of The Prodigy and N-Joi.

Since rebranding themselves as the Drumattic Twins in 1997, Nick and Lanx quickly replicated this global notoriety thanks to the massive hit tracks ‘Feelin Kinda Strange’ ‘Twister’ and ‘HyperSpeed’. They teamed up with the legendary release platform Finger Lickin Records in 1999 and settled quickly into the close-knit world of the breakbeat scene, working alongside global acts such as Plump DJs, Soul of Man and Lee Coombs.

From a string of releases from 1999 starting with top the selling "Feeling Kinda Strange" till late 2013 with their "Get Up and Dance EP" on Sugarbeat Records and 2 full length albums in between the Drumattic Twins have laid down a variety of music that have influenced the Breaks Scene and shaped it in to what it is today.

This LIVE mix was recorded at the Winter Break Festival by Triple J Radio Australia back in 2004.
