It might seem a kitsch throwback to the days when music was an essential weapon in the Soviet armoury, but the Red Army Choir still sets the benchmark for military music-making some 80 odd years since it was founded. Now known as the Alexandrov Ensemble, the company of singers, players and dancers still tours the world as a cultural envoy of the Russian state. Aled Jones uncovers the history of the group, from its first glory years when it performed a vital role in promoting culture amongst the members of the Soviet military. He follows it through the Second World War when it gave an astounding 1500 concerts to motivate the troups, and then the post-war years when it had to re-invent itself as a vehicle for national pride across the world despite political resistance to its concerts in the West.

This is a project that came to me through the inspiration of 65daysofstatic, which is a main grab for me in a game called " No Man's Sky "

Having an understanding about our existence through the sound made me want to explore the more " Outlandish " and very experimental style of music.

Mirage - No Man's Sky [Tribute]

I started this tune on December 1st 2015 and I worked on it until january 13th, when I got stuck!
I wrote the beginning of what should have been the 2nd part, but I couldn't go on... When Antonio decided to publish a preview of the game (Semptember 2016) I decided to use a short version of the tune containing just the first part. I just had to make some little changes to make the lead instrument audible for the 6581 SID models, but wait: the version you're listening to now (the same that is on the CD) is the original one, with the filters working correctly!

Towards the end of the production of the game we needed another tune. Since there wasn't much time, we decided to keep this tune as it was on the preview.
When I listen to this tune it seems too short and incomplete... If I had more time (and maybe more ideas) I would try harder to develop the second part and maybe add a third one, as I had initially planned to do...

P.S.: As for the other Planet Golf tunes, the title was decided by Antonio, whom I thank!

Well, it's still snowing in Minnesota- so much, in fact, that we had school off today! In light of this unexpected break, I started working on a Famitracker cover of this excellent 90s bop that I've been listening to a lot lately for some reason. So far I've only fully worked out the chorus, but I'm in the process of making the verse, so expect a complete version to come along sometime soon.

OllAxe is a Swedish music producer and DJ. In his years of producing music, he's made a wide variety of chiptune and EDM tracks and has had his music heard over 400 000 times.

When he started out, he made music using FamiTracker - a piece of software for creating chiptune. During that time, he learned to write the melodies you hear in his music today. He also brought with him the palette of chiptune sounds that star in most music he makes.

Fast forward to today, OllAxe is balancing his job in game development with his music production hobby. Even when he's not releasing music, he's constantly fine-tuning his craft.
