Beautiful offering for #116 from the depths of France, Javier Salazar (@salazarconnect). I originally discovered their music via a beautiful set at the @monument-podcast festival afterparty on a beautiful farm in Norway. I was completely entranced by their percussive, groovy style. 

Founders of @rdgtribe, they recently put out a beautiful release on the output - somehow both soothing and driving. This mix is a beautiful continuation of that style. Relaxing, hypnotic and bouncy all at once.

In anticipation of the 2023 edition of the MOSTRA Festival, with whom we joined forces to present you music from some of the most exciting and talented producers and DJs worldwide, in the next couple of weeks, we'll feature several truly outstanding music tales. 

The first mix in our 'Delayed x Mostra' mix series comes from the incredible French producer and DJ based in Germany, Aa Sudd, who has in this past year released two of the most groundbreaking and avant-garde albums of the moment: one with Konduku as Konsudd and another released just a month or so ago on Midgar. 

Aa Sudd's mix is a true masterpiece exploring the dub's hypnotic and atmospheric realms. With intricate and captivating polyrhythms, this mix takes listeners on a psychedelic journey through sound. The various rhythms blend seamlessly, creating a truly otherworldly experience when you listen to it on your headphones.

Aa Sudd will play on the festival's opening day, Thursday, April 6, from 9-11 pm at the Hangar.

Local
The pandemic highlighted the importance of local communities, local institutions and local support for one another. We at Mostra continue the commitment to our Local, not only by programming local artists on the line-up, but also through how we choose our suppliers and other collaborations in the city. And we go further: an exhibitors' Fira for the duration of the festival, generating our own media content during the year through MostRadio, the Mostra’m series of debates, seminars and conferences in parallel with the festival, and our ExtraMostra series of events in venues across Barcelona place Mostra’s roots firmly in their local environment.

Inclusive
Mostra is a festival that reflects on the realities that surround us in electronic music. We are committed to breaking the gender gap in a scene that is traditionally very masculinised. We try to reflect this in our programming, in our team, and in the values we promote: we want a friendly and safe space where there is no room for any kind of violence, and where respect for diversity is fundamental. We have developed our own protocol with a gender perspective, and we seek to raise awareness in a transversal way throughout the project.

Sustainable
Mostra is a festival that seeks to be a social and environmental benchmark through its actions. We follow the most up-to-date sustainable protocols and develop good practice in relation to both city and planet. We have created the role of Sustainability Director who leads and implements an action plan based on sustainable experiences; we limit the programming of artists from overseas to reduce our carbon footprint; and we are committed to contracting and collaborating with social integration and social and solidarity organisations from Barcelona.

Delayed with... Aa Sudd [Delayed x Mostra]

Our latest mix is a remarkable live set from The Hague-based producer Harald Uunk, who guides us through an exploration of the psyche from which we emerge anew. Harald calls upon self-made instruments, field recordings, and experimentation with hardware and software to reach the furthest limits of his sonic vision, and what we discover there is breathtaking. An immediate and compelling sense of urgency finds itself fractured, recomposed, and through the fragments we glimpse the primordial. I've been eager to hear more of Harald's work for quite some time, so the opportunity to share this set for the series feels truly special. Enjoy the journey, and thank you Harald!

Faery is a London-based DJ whose hypnotic selections weave together the psychedelic reaches of deep techno, tripped-out psy, and dark, vortex-like DnB. A lover of both pitched-down chuggers and fast-paced rollers alike, her sound connects the dots through a focus on intricate sound design and rich, moody textures. Over the past year, she’s played at iconic venues and festivals across Europe, including Amsterdam’s De School, Positive Education Festival, London’s Village Underground, and Berlin’s Renate. Alongside her club appearances, Faery explores the world-building potential of sound, connecting it to her interest in environmental theory through her Bio-17 sound art project - where original biorhythmic samples are woven into experimental ambient to create speculative sonic worlds. 

I have been following her rise in the deep techno scene over the last year.  I saw her play at Village Underground with pedigree players Konduku and Donato Dozzy.  Her ethereal music journeys have captivated audiences in London and an ever-growing international following in France and beyond.  She loves and appreciates the clubbing community so much. Her Soundcloud is filled with her responses to followers, always happy to share IDs.  I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing and photographing her for my new night Temporalities happening on the 30th of April.  She comes in tonight to offer a taste of what she will bring to the booth on the 30th at club Venue MOT. For Patterns of Perception 112, we're very excited to welcome back @kondukukonduku - a truly stellar all-round talent and dear friend of our collective. 

Four whole years have passed since we last featured Konduku in our mix series. In this time, he has reached new creative heights, adding textures, shades and vibrancy to his distinctive sound - in the process finding homes for highly touted releases on the likes of @spaziodisponibile, Mantis (via @delsinrecords), @nousklaeraudio, @amenthia-recordings (with @aasudd) and most recently @djnobu_bitta's Bitta.

As a DJ, his creativity and skills are similarly vaunted, and see him regularly take the stage at key festivals, venues and events across Europe and Asia. 

Recorded live at Patterns of Perception @ OHM Berlin on Apr 21, 2023, Konduku's Patterns of Perception 112 is a showcase of his thrilling abilities behind the decks. Unpredictable yet totally engrossing, this set is a profound tale of tension and release. Tightly wound grooves and eerie psychedelia leading us unerringly to ecstasy. A fine balance of intuition, control and spirit from a visionary artist in full-flight.

Patterns of Perception 112 - Konduku

Next up in our mix series is Garçon, co-founder of Amenthia Recordings, and an important figure both in the local underground scene, and in the experimental psychedelic scene globally - with a unique fondness for rhythmically adventurous sounds from the outer edges of the electronic spectrum. 

This mix dives into experimental atmospheres, rhytmical excursions and trippy soundscapes - which shows not only his wide record collection, but most of all an elaborate web of synapses between the different moods and textures. He teases music gradually and deliberately, layering hypnotic grooves atop one another and subtly modulating the mood, with this delayed gratification leading to a far greater payoff.

This fifth episode is realized by Vardae, part of EWO and Ouroboros. Vardae is a project with the ambition of breaking away from the genre barrier, to explore new sounds territory around the love of psychedelic music. 

His productions and performances result in a percussive and hypnotic sound, a combination of tribal rhythms, repetitive leads and atmospheric textures which navigates from dub to tribe, passing through techno and drum’n’bass.

Hyperterranean #018 with Severja
