At a time when political polarization, dysfunction, and confusion seem to be at an all-time high, and when noise and static seem to be drowning out sane discourse … the Wiki Politiki Radio Show offers a heartening alternative:  Fun, laughter, constructive conversation, and insight.

Its purpose is to cultivate the wisdom of many perspectives, and create generative conversations to help us work together to find real solutions to the problems we face … or as Swami would say, “Let’s bring left and right front and center to turn the funk into function, and leave the junk at the junction.”

Each week on the Wiki Politiki Radio Show, host Steve Bhaerman (also known as cosmic comic Swami Beyondananda) will bring two “visionary, solutionary” voices to the show to offer their viewpoints, and then collaborate to find a wiser way forward.  We’re not expecting our guests to agree about everything.  That would be boring and unproductive!

We do expect that by speaking clearly and listening respectfully, there will be some “Aha’s” and new pathways for co-creation.  And there will be plenty of ha-ha’s as well, as Steve and Swami bring much-needed humor to the political landscape.

Even though the show is called Wiki Politiki, the topics and guests will represent a wide range of fields — from spirituality and psychology to economy and ecology, health and wellbeing, and of course, politics.  The politics will not focus on the entrenched and clichéd conversations between polarized tribes, but rather on the “meta-issues” that help us rise above and see from a higher perspective.

Every show will be archived, so these conversations can be enjoyed and listened to again and again.

As the Swami has been telling us for years now, the body politic is one sick puppy, suffering from irony deficiency … truth decay … electile dysfunction … and most recently from bi-polar disorder.

As a result, what we used to call democracy is in the intensive care unit – and those who intensively care about its survival are finding themselves more and more marginalized. Fortunately, we still have that bastion of truth, academia, where in the spirit of the Free Speech Movement more than half a century ago, academic freedom is alive and well as professors and students freely and frankly discuss the most divisive issues of our time.

Oh … wait a minute.

That must be happening in a parallel universe.

In this universe, a professor who has literally written the book on propaganda – or at least wrote the preface to one – is on the verge of being fired for teaching about propaganda. His crime? Pointing out the propaganda being promoted by the university itself.

Fortunately, his colleagues at the university have bravely rallied around him, and …

Oh … OK. That too is happening in a parallel universe.

Oh, well. All’s well that ends Orwell.

Our guest today, Mark Crispin Miller, has been fighting “notseeism” for decades, courageously pointing out those uncomfortable truths that others choose to not see. Now he is embroiled in his own battle to keep his position at NYU, after unmasking the propaganda about masking, and being guilty of “hate speech” – now defined as saying anything that the power structure hates to hear.

Mark Crispin Miller earned his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in 1971, and his doctorate in English from Johns Hopkins University in 1977. He is currently a Professor of Media, Culture and Communication at New York University. He is the author of several books, including, The Bush Dyslexicon: Observations on a National Disorder, Cruel and Unusual: Bush/Cheney’s New World Order and Fooled Again: The Real Case for Electoral Reform (2007).

Miller is the editor of Forbidden Bookshelf, an e-book series that revives important works now out of print, most of which were variously killed at birth. He also wrote the introduction to the 2004 edition of Edward Bernays’ book Propaganda. He is also editor of News From the Underground.

When Lyndon Johnson was President, there was a popular riddle. How can you tell when the President is telling the truth? When he wiggles his ears, he is telling the truth. When he scratches his nose, he is telling the truth. When he rubs is eyes, he is telling the truth. When he opens his mouth … he is lying.

We the people have been acculturated to being lied to by politicians, and now it is becoming clear that it’s not just the politicians – it’s the entire political system, including the corporate media – that is lying to us.

Ever since the Jonestown massacre more than 40 years ago, the term “drink the Kool-Aid” has been used to describe weapons of mass-deception. Today however, that Kool-Aid has been rebranded as “fine wine”, as people are being asked to buy the notion that ONLY the vaccine will protect us from the deadly COVID germ and allow us to return to “normal.”

Our guest this week, Jack Reed, just wrote a compelling essay called “Kool-Aid”, where he lays out deception after deception, from the Gulf of Tonkin attack that didn’t happen, to the Patriot Act passed in the aftermath of the 911 attacks, to the current lockdown of both people and information during the COVID-19 crisis – each of which has increased the power of the state, and diminished the power of the people. In the middle of this essay, he suggests that maybe what we need is a vaccine against deception.

The closest we have to that is recognizing the patterns of deceit, and cultivating the courage to see them and call it out.

And the good news is … in addition to being able to unblinkingly look at the awful truth, Jack is a clear-eyed visionary able to point us toward the world we want instead – and offer practical ways to get there.

I was thinking of calling this podcast, “First, They Came For the Homeopaths.”

Anyone who grew up in the post World War II world is familiar with the confessional quote by German Lutheran pastor Martin Niemöller:

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I am deeply saddened to report that we seem to be on a similar track here in “Not-see America.”

The COVID crisis and lockdown has been an excellent excuse to censor and de-platform many forms of alternative medicine, particularly those that cannot be owned or controlled by big pharma. This is nothing new. Only now, it has become more blatant.

Our guest this week homeopathic expert and author Dana Ullman, will discuss the issue of medical totalitarianism and what we can do about it. This week, we are going to turn the tables – or at least turn the mike. After doing more than 150 interviews on Wiki Politiki over the past three-and-a-half years, I’m putting myself on the other side of the mike, thanks to my colleague and co-heart, Veronica Entwistle, host of Paradigm Shifters Radio. She did an interview with me last month for her show and with her kind permission we are re-running it on my show.

I must say that in the time since we launched Wiki Politiki in the fall of 2017, I have learned so much and been so inspired by the evolutionaries and solutionaries I featured, that I wanted to offer a “we are here” assessment of our – you know the word – shituation at this point.

In 2004, the renowned theologian and philosopher David Ray Griffin published a book called The New Pearl Harbor: Disturbing Questions About the Bush Administration and 9/11. He was referring to a document released in 1997 by neoconservative think-tank, Project For A New American Century (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_for_the_New_American_Century) called Statement of Principles, Rebuilding America’s Defenses/. The document declared that to mobilize public opinion to support America’s 21st century military agenda, a “New Pearl Harbor” would be needed.


 
Griffin (https://bohemian.com/unquestioned-answers-1/) and numerous other “coincidence theorists” noted how conveniently the 9/11 attacks were used to justify the War on Terror, the Afghanistan invasion and Iraq War that have become the Forever War, with no end in sight. It also produced the so-called Patriot Act, which has led to the routine, thorough surveillance of American citizens that we have been asked to accept as “the new normal.”

Well folks, there is now a NEW “new normal” thanks to the current COVID crisis, that seeks to install more surveillance and more encroachment of natural rights and human liberties. Our guest this week, is MD and vaccine expert Dr. Meryl Nass. She, along with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. of Children’s Health Defense, has produced a well-researched – and frightening – document that offers damning evidence that effective early treatments for COVID-19 were intentionally withheld so that vaccines could be fast-tracked without trials as emergency measures.

Given how much we heard about how Donald Trump’s failure to handle the crisis and how many lives were lost as a result, it may be that many, many more lives were lost because these treatments were withheld.

Is this conspiracy theory or con’s piracy reality? Is there a smoking gun, and if so, what can be done about it?

Meryl Nass is on the front lines in this battle over – well, over which reality prevails.

Meryl Nass, MD, ABIM, is an internist with special interests in vaccine-induced illnesses, chronic fatigue syndrome, Gulf War illness, fibromyalgia, and toxicology. As a biological warfare epidemiologist, she investigated world’s largest anthrax epizootic, in Zimbabwe, and developed a model for analyzing epidemics to assess whether they are natural or man-made. She is also an expert on Gulf War Syndrome and its relationship to the anthrax vaccine given to troops. She has played a major role in creation of a coalition that has fought the Anthrax Vaccine Immunization Program, and is active in assisting legal teams defending anthrax vaccine refusers and ill service members in the U.S. and Canada.

There’s a famous joke purportedly told by a Soviet delegate during a meeting to discuss trade between the two countries during the Cold War Era:

What’s the difference between capitalism and communism?

In capitalism, man exploits man. In communism, it’s the other way around.

The 20th century offered up plenty of evidence that — given human nature, and the nature of the “dominator virus” that has dominated human affairs for the past 5,000 years — despite the best intentions, neither system has created social justice or sustainable economic well being.

The problem with any ideology is, while it might be a helpful place to be “coming from”, it doesn’t allow the flexibility required when we’re ready to stop defending positions and begin actually solving problems.

That brings us to this week’s program featuring the Mondragón Cooperatives in the Basque region of Spain. Writes Georgia Kelly, our guest this week:

It seems that Mondragón has taken the very best ideas from both capitalism and socialism and created a hybrid that supports people, as well as their ideas, health, education, personal development, and society. Whatever one calls it, it works. And, it works better for more people than any other economic system today.

And ironically, this “hybrid” that can look suspiciously like “socialism” was hatched by a Catholic priest in the mid-1950s during the Francisco Franco right wing fascist regime. Based on a philosophy of human values, respect, and equality, the mission of the Mondragón Cooperatives is to “create wealth within a culture, to foster a people-centered society instead of a capital-centered society, to honor work with dignity, and to limit the number of work hours.” Mikel Lezamiz, the recently retired Director of Dissemination at the Mondragón Cooperatives Corporation, said “People are the core, not capital. This is the main point. If capital has the power, then labor is simply its tool.”

Producing everything from computer chips and bicycles to elevators and auto parts, the Mondragón Cooperatives is the tenth-largest Spanish company and the leading business group in the Basque country. At the end of 2014, it employed 74,117 people in 257 companies and organizations in four areas of activity: finance, industry, retail and knowledge.

Trump may be going, going, gone yet Trumpism remains.

Much has been written about Donald Trump’s psychological issues, and yet his appeal – particularly to a certain type of man – remains a bit of a mystery. Many, many people, certainly a majority of adult Americans, recognize Donald Trump as a self-serving liar and con artist. Yet many hold him as a hero, an upholder of American values, and the final firewall between our freedom and a top-down totalitarian “one world government.”

In that prophetic article, he points to Donald Trump’s childhood of serious abuse, neglect, and abandonment, and then warns that other men who have suffered similar indignities would relate to Trump, and revile the same establishment forces he does. Earlier this month, we witnessed groups such as the Proud Boys, who showed up armed in Washington, D.C. to storm the capital in support of their fearless leader. But maybe it wasn’t fearlessness, but fearfulness running them.

So … how do we address this psychological disease that nearly caused democracy’s demise? How do we reach the real people struggling with their personal pain and projecting it out on the world? And … how do we uncover the REAL concerns these wounded men hold, and bring them out for resolution?

Jed Diamond, Ph.D., is the Founder and Director of Men Alive, a health program that helps men live long and well. Jed is the author of 17 books including his latest, My Distant Dad: Healing the Family Father Wound (Lasting Impact Press, 2018).

Jed’s previous books include: The Enlightened Marriage: The 5 Transformative Stages of Relationships and Why the Best is Still to Come … The Irritable Male Syndrome and 12 Rules For Good Men. He has been on the Board of Advisors of the Men’s Health Network since its inception in 1992.
