I was playing around with the "Cuban Piano" and kind of liked the sound of it.
So, I was just thinking of what kind of vista might be nice for some rhythm sets I was playing with.

It put me in mind of a jungle setting, so I got to wondering if there were some jungle sounds that were available...and there was one...so I grabbed it.

I wanted something like an oboe or bassoon to blast out through the scenery, but it needed a little more power. I thought about the brightness of brass, so I checked out the Tuba...but it was too brassy. However, just for fun, I picked up the EQ on the hi and lo spectrum ends and left the middle alone, and kept playing down the scale until, happily, it had just the right sound.

Then I wanted some different unique sounds, so I kept playing with the percussion sets until something almost like a woodpecker sound popped out.
So it became part of the mix.

I hope it works out well for an enjoyable ride through the rain forest.

I say: TP
Sort of a free flowing movement(from one scenario) to another scenario with the sections of this track. We genred it "Ambient Industrial Piano" which will become evident as moving through perhaps. It features 3 (in my opinion) beautiful piano scapes and melodies from Jaime.. which are often times with relation to (Jaimes piano) very goosebump inducing and emotional and for this track are the "pillar points" for the track. Interdisplaces between are kind of just interludes to the next pillar, with some keys placed here and there myself with some sound design,synths,and other stuff etc... for connectivity.

 As we move from place to place within the track. It kind of took us a while to get it all worked out with Jaimes and my schedule etc. We really enjoy these instrumentals that contrast and mix our individual musical vibes into hopefully an interesting twist or turn here and there to take ya into another direction right quick .. we enjoyed it  and hope you will also:) and as always thanks for taking interest if ya do :)

Usually i post fresh improv, faster made tune. This one is different. Two years of mixing, mastering, getting dozens of basslines bumping to each other in a slo-mo Pogo dance. Had a blast producing it in Ableton with Arturia synths and IK Multimedia tools. 

Having said that, thats a rule, Fender Strat tipsy guitar noodle improv comes almost as-is, as it happened one good day. You can spend endless time mixing, polishing, growing your skills, but if something just happened - let it be. Power of music is in the improvisation and art of impression. Hope you share that thoughts and enjoy the do. TNX!

Bill's note:
This song has been a long time producing. The version that we performed at the wedding was very simplified in a piano and voice setting ... this however .... man, it took a long time! 
This song wasn't easy at first. People give me some words and concepts to use about their love, their interests, their relationship, how they met, etc. and I get to make a song out of it. 
The Spartan Sun now has a life of its own in my opinion. Melissa nailed the vocals and breathed true life into this track! I am so thankful as well for my former student and now friend, Tom, and his amazingly tasteful lead work. 
Jeff ( Tainted Icarus ) is always so helpful with his production advice. Sometimes I just can't hear the song anymore after working on it so much and don't think I could finish some of these tracks without him!

Anyway, I hope you like it. If you actually read this far then God bless you! You are some of the most important people in the world to us. It is amazing to think that a small family living in the woods in a small state in New England can make music ... and then make friends all over the world with it ... how cool is that?

Spartan Sun

So its getting near the end of the road and the year for this project anyway...this song is the last release for my mini album/e.p the road which was written about traveling though life and to keep on moving .
This song i wrote about our mortality and trying to make the most of the time we have as everything must pass [to quote George harrison]
and everything will fall or break or wear away which is the way of things nothing lasts forever especially people and animals which we are anyway but the hope is new life and rebirth its on the cards thats why im holding on to them

Firstly on easy listening 6/4 bars, I cut some notes out of the main theme so as to give it dynamism, and finally obtained a prime amalgam of 17 quarter notes. I hid any recognizable thing in the accompaniment, and for the organic lines (voice and guitars) I tried the strong rhythm would not fix too much the melodies, first paying a lot of attention, and finally ... just letting me go.
