Top Rankin’ is a new club night in East London, bringing together DJs and MCs to celebrate UK Club and Sound System culture by taking it ‘right back to its roots’.

From dubplates to reloads to 16-bar verses, the Reggae & Bashment influence on UK’s popular music is both vast and varied. UK Garage, Funky, Grime, DnB and Dubstep, to name some genres, can all be traced back to the sunny climes of the Carribean, and those initial roots have continued to flourish on these shores. Today, through club nights, carnivals, clash events, and not to mention the plethora of underground and mainstream releases, it’s impossible to ignore its impact – even if you wanted to.

Top Rankin’ joins the dots, and pays homage to this international connection by sharing the Sound System story in typical fashion - through loud, colourful, unpretentious experiences. We provide a break from the generic house nights that dominate the London scene - replacing £5 pints, flat caps and Nike Huaraches with Rum n Cokes, inflatable palm trees and all round good vibes.

Galak Spiritual is a conscious and highly energetic solo artist, DJ and frontman whose music is a blend of reggae, hip hop, jungle and soul. Renowned in both the UK and his native France for his incredibly versatile vocal skills, Galak has stunned audiences across the UK & Europe with his ability to flip from spine-tingling soulful melodies to his unmistakable raw ragga mc’ing and lyrical rap flows.

Influenced early on by reggae, soul, afro-cuban & jazz music, Galak developed his unique vocal abilities as a staple figure on the early Paris hip hop scene, and continues to release music in both French and English under his Galak Spiritual and Galak monikers.

On moving to London in 2011, Galak became a key member of the respected sound system and music collective Unit 137, and frontman for the mighty 8 piece reggae outfit OnlyJoe - whose sensational live show has earned regular festival appearances at Boomtown Fair, Secret Garden Party, Glastonbury, Fusion and many more.

Galak’s ability to command the stage and set the dance on fire has seen him perform alongside industry giants such as Horace Andy, Capleton, Julian Marley, Mad Professor, Channel One, Congo Natty and many more.. he is a regular DJ Selecta at club nights around the country. With radio play from David Rodigan and collaborations with the likes of General Levy, Skibadee and DJ Vadim, Galak Spiritual is a talent with game-changing potential and a career on the up and up. With forthcoming solo projects in the pipeline and a debut album from OnlyJoe scheduled for release this year, Galak is set to make waves in 2019 and beyond.

onlyjoe are a conscious, highly energetic and multi faceted nine-piece reggae outfit from London. Having established themselves at underground parties, clubs and major festivals throughout the UK, they are ready to up the pace. The band have a vibrant stage history that has seen them rub shoulders with the likes of Tippa Irie, Mad Professer, Aba Shanti-I, Solo Banton, Zion Train, Demolition Man, Congo Natty and many more. onlyjoe have been blessed to receive he musical guidance that is truly needed to create the unique and powerful sound hat they have developed.

With a wide range of influences and some of the UK’s most successful Reggae and Jungle artists nurturing them, this tight-knit family is set to shoot into the musical stratosphere and conquer the worldwide reggae and festival scenes. Having released their self-titled EP, which gained the recognition amongst some of the world’s leading reggae DJs, there really is no limit to what this talented outfit can achieve. The message behind their music is positivity, love and unification. There is a massive energy coming from this band and they are guaranteed to shake the dance, be a name festivals and party goers remember and that promoters want to book again and again.

SKITZ - BIOGRAPHY

In 1996 his debut 12” is released on Ronin. 'Skitz alongside Roots Manuva' and gains him immediate success. The song not only causes a stir on the Hip-Hop underground but it also crosses over to the Jazz scene. The track gets picked up by Giles Peterson and also Patrick Forge who later use the track for the Rebirth of Cool series. The single also opens doors for the talented Roots Manuva. 

 ‘Dedication’ wins Best Single of the Year at the 2000 UK Hip Hop awards. The tune features the mic skills of Rodney P and turntable contributions from the likes of The Mixologists DJ Go and Ronin label pal Deckwrecka.

Countryman. Skitz’s first long player combines distinctive production with a whole array of conscious lyrical contributions. The fact that there are no less than 25 fresh MC’s and DJ’s on this LP is a clear message to major record labels. Some of the artists include Skinnyman, Est’elle, Dynamite MC, Phi-Life cypher, Taskforce, RodneyP, Roots Manuva, to name a few. 

The classic jump up track Simon Says by Pharaohe Monche gets the Skitz remix treatment and he is the first British Producer to have a record on Rawkus Records. 

So popular is Skitz's UK Sound that ex-Galliano rapper Rob G writes a track all about searching for the elusive Skitz track. He also gets sampled by US producer Dallas Austin for Monicas huge R’n'B album on which he is also credited.

Countryman wins Hip Hop album of the year at the 2001 Hip Hop awards.

A steady ‘production line’ of releases under his belt and remixes for the likes of Roni Size, Sain Supa Crew and Faithless. 
Skitz has also lent his heavyweight hand to folk singer Eva Abraham , collaborated with Dj Die, Dynamite and Rodney P for Virgin Records.

The year 2003 also sees the growth of his own label Titan Sounds. Set up alongside friend and talented producer Mickle and featuring MC's Riddla, the Extremists , Skeme and Big P. 

Skitz has been on the cover of Hip Hop Connection, Fatboss, Touch and Straight no Chaser.

1Xtra is born. A sister station to radio 1 but only on digital format it features the cream of the crop of black music DJs from all genres and Skitz and Rodney P are asked to present the flagship Hip Hop show playing British rap alongside American and interviewing big names from both sides of the atlantic. Original Fever gets a phenomenal response from around the whole world. He interviews 50 Cent, Redman and Method Man, Ludacriss, Chuck D, Talib Kweli, The Roots, Beanie Seagal, Memphis Bleek, Pharrell from the Neptunes,  Nappy Roots and the Clipse to name a few.
Skitz produces the track alongside Agzilla that launches the station which features Beverly Knight, Roots Manuva,  Rodney P and Gemma Fox.

Skitz is commissioned to launch a new compilation series BAD MEANING GOOD. 

Skitz remixes for Skint Records Freq Nasty and also festival favourites lamb and Grand Centrals Funky Fresh Few all to critical acclaim. Skitz tours Australia with Rodney P and also plays out in Miami, Taiwan, Greece, Scandanavia and Europe.
Once again Skitz is asked to launch a new series of compilations. ‘Homegrown’…. Put together for React Music. 

Skitz and Rodney P in their capacity as 1xtra deejays together support Jay Z, Kanye West , Ghostface Killah and the Roots.

Silent Soundz team up with Skitz to present Homegrown Volume 2. 
Skitz also lets off Million Dans mixtape Infra Red to critical acclaim.

His second production album STICKSMAN is out now. Featuring artists such as Kardinal Offishal, Rodney P, Masta Ace, Deadly Hunta, HarryShotta, Dynamite MC, Nathan ‚Flutebox’ Lee  and foreign beggars to name a few. Smashin up the airwaves and seedy condensation dripping bassments and outernationally on the festival circuit Skitz ain't going nowhere!!
