Addiction has held hostage some of the most beautiful minds and souls. It doesn't discriminate or pick and choose for any reason. It just rots and decays everything good about a person.

This song is about living inside a lifeless mind, lying stagnant somewhere between life and death. Wishful for one or the other, but unable to move. Purgatory.

I wrote this song after being there myself for well over a decade. Only ever living in and out of a "Whiskey Purgatory". Addiction comes in countless forms and destroys lives. I chose to take mine back and pray that anyone still struggling can do the same.

Here’s the truth about this album
I wrote it while I was poundin’ shots of whiskey by the gallon
Left my family wondering how can I be living life without em
These songs meant more to me than my commitments that I vowed em
Didn’t want to be around em
My head was dark and clouded
I’m not proud of it
I spiraled out and thought that I just want to do my music
Go get high and just abuse it
Wanted to choose to just be through with everything beautiful
And lose myself to do what I want to do
But here’s the truth I wish I knew

That nothing I’m doing has ever been darker then everything happening right now
Since I was I child I hideout, under the covers turn the light out
Don’t know how to fight, that might be the reason why I became an addict
It was the world that I was mad at
Blame my brother, mom, and dadda
That’s when I turned into everything that I hated
Disrespectful rebel that got a shoulder chip and labeled I don’t give a sh*t I’m faded
Underrated, give me baby at 16 so I can raise it
Just so later she can turn on me and sabotage and hate me
Just rewind it back to prison
And the trauma that I lived in
And the God that touched my heart and
Said my crimes have been forgiven
And my soul found rest right inside of that broken mess
And I think I’ve been broken since
Cuz the other way don’t make sense
And then I paroled and wrote my first real album

So I fell hard and it cost me everything except an arm and leg
Cuz if you asked me what the last thing on my mind had been

This tug of war has got me luke warm and I’m too torn to get used to any new norm, I’m a rose bud with a huge thorn
It’s my duty to soldier on with every new war
But my shoes torn, I’m tired of looking at blue skies with new storms
That’s why I wrote this EP
So I could walk away from this relapse with a CD
To remember every feeling
To lie there dead and bleeding
To come to life again I’m breathing
If you ask me yes it hurts cuz there’s a fight to get to this healing
I don’t want to even cry about it anymore

I don’t know why it still feels like a mystery

A lifelong battle of resentment for cops cuz I couldn't understand the crime
I just saw a bunch of cowards without a spine

And I was pissed, I must have been six, with my hands in a fist, and I'm sick with this askin why
So I started listening to Slim Shady (that's Rock Bottom)
Him and Dr. Dre had a way that they rapped these rhymes
I put my headphones on, as I drift away and just relate a bit to these master minds
I've got a million emotions I can't define
When my heart and mind they just can't align
I smack rewind and then I go and black my mind and chill with a track that could take me back in time

And your mother gets drunk cause she just couldn't handle
The pain that it causes, when love doesn't last
Cuz it started out happy with mommy and daddy, but feelings they change (change)

And all that you want is some peace in your home, but it seems like it even just hardly would matter
It's all that I'm after, cuz after my father got cancer I promised to God that I'd had it
And life doesn't stop, in fact its just giving it all to you back going farther and faster
And dark as it gets, we don't have the power to change anything but our thoughts and reactions
It honestly really don't matter how broken and battered and scarred from the battle
There's always a thousand more bars in this ladder you gotta keep climbing up all that it has
And turn up the speakers so loud that you can't hear your thoughts over all the guitars and pianos
Til all of the curtains they close, and all that is left is the stage and the sound of this audience clapping
