Tresor Records announces the first-ever reissue of Drexciya’s 'Fusion Flats' 12” vinyl, including remixes from Detroit’s Octave One, Kaotic Spatial Rhythms and 043 Chaos. 

Originally released in the wake of Drexciya’s seminal 1999 Tresor debut album 'Neptune’s Lair', this release marks its long-awaited return and first appearance on digital platforms. The remastered edition contains the original extended version of Fusion Flats and features new artwork by Detroit-based contemporary artist Matthew Angelo Harrison, whose reimagined covers continue to shape the Drexciya reissue series. 

25 years later, Fusion Flats returns to the constellation of Drexciya’s Tresor works, connecting their debut full-length to further explorations that continue to inspire generations.

About Tresor Berlin
At midnight, on March 13th 1991, a basement door opened at Leipziger Strasse 126, Berlin. Through this door, many passed, on their way to defining new terrains in electronic music. There they found a dance floor in the vaults of a closed-down department store, with a unique sound bound to dense fog, building night after night a history that was also a vision of the future.

This history has seen in Jeff Mills’ first sets on three turntables, Underground Resistance's first live appearances in Europe, grandiose Tresor Park parties, to various chapters of the Loveparade with Sven Väth in the 90s and since then countless generation-spanning parties. These moments represent the highlights of infinite personal clubbing experiences. It is the manifestation of the Berlin spirit, emerging from its considerable strife. This history is not without its complications - from temporary closure by the authorities and several raids in the early years to closure and demolition of the old location in 2005. What followed was years of wandering in exile and, finally, resurrection in the new home in Kraftwerk Berlin.

These stories, conversations and shared experiences within our walls forge a resilience that drives towards a shared ideal, the Tresor sound: community, resistance, and the world to come. This was observed in the newly re-unified German youth, who danced and celebrated together from the club’s inception, and into the present day through ongoing community work in Detroit.

To those that have danced before, and to those that will dance in the future: the light at the end of the long Tresor tunnel is a signal. A flicker amidst the fog. This is our future. This is our place.

VARIA is pleased to present the next episode in its podcast series, featuring Conrad Van Orton.

Conrad Van Orton is a Rome-based artist crafting a unique sound born from the
fusion of his musical roots with Detroit and Berlin techno.

His musical journey began with his parents' record collection (glam rock, classical) and the influence of 90s Italian underground hip-hop, ignited further by local radio broadcasts, Daft Punk's "Homework" and the purchase of his first Technics turntables in 1999. A pivotal moment came in the early 2000s with a sound experimentation workshop at Rome's Teatro Vascello, led by Saverio Evangelista (Esplendor Geometrico). 

His subsequent encounter with Francesco Visconti (VSK) cemented his passion for raw, radical techno, a journey he continues to this day. Van Orton's productions, released on
labels like 30D, Attic Music, Counterchange, Emerald, Modularz, Mitsubasa and Key
Vinyl, are deep, enveloping soundscapes-each track a story, an emotion conveyed
through frequency. 

Influenced by Detroit techno, house funk, and late 90s/early 2000s Berlin techno, his performances transcend mere DJing, creating a magical atmosphere and a shared experience.

In 2020, he founded Lambda Room in Rome, focusing on mixing, mastering, and tutoring. Since late 2023, he has been a resident and active member of the Silencio collective at Cieloterra.

This episode continues VARIA’s mission: championing considered electronic expression and lasting artistry.
