From downtempo and ambient soundscapes to peak-time energy, Rubi has brought her musical touch to renowned clubs and festivals such as Club der Visionäre, Dimensions Festival, Tresor, Hoppetosse, and many more. Inviting her for a podcast episode was an easy choice, and we’re thrilled to have her contributing in the series.

Over the years, Rubi has carved out a distinct presence in the electronic music scene, recognized for her eclectic and carefully curated sound. A dedicated digger with an extensive record collection, she seamlessly moves across genres, always delivering fresh and unexpected selections.

Since 2020, Rubi has been based in Berlin, where she became part of the first wave of artists joining Rings of Neptune. Her passion for uncovering rare and forgotten music extends beyond the dancefloor—her YouTube channel serves as a platform to share hidden gems, offering a glimpse into her deep musical explorations.

She also co-hosts the monthly show ‘Musical Autobiographies’ on Refuge Worldwide, inviting fellow artists to reflect on their musical journeys through ten influential tracks. 

Rubi's impact on the underground scene goes beyond DJing and producing. In 2015, she co-founded the Kommuna event series and its vinyl-only label Kommuna Tapes, showcasing forward-thinking artists for a decade. In 2018, she took her vision to Asia, launching Out Of Sight in Yangon, Myanmar—an event series dedicated to underground electronic music on vinyl. As the city’s only monthly event hosting international artists, it played a key role in shaping a new local scene.

No matter the setting, Rubi’s sets are defined by her ability to break from the ordinary, weaving together evolving rhythms, unconventional drum patterns, and immersive melodic elements. Expect an adventurous journey through quirky gems, breaks, proggy grooves and much more in this episode—everything you didn’t know you needed to hear.

Dea live at Hoppetosse. I remember needing a DJ to make a smooth and coherent transition from the more electro and with a higher BPM liveset from Detroit In Effect to a slowerr BPM and more straight and 4/4 based beat, and I thought directly of her to handle the merging role. Was not disappointed, have a nice trip.

The nomadic Japanese DJ and producer and self proclaimed "party ninja" serves up 3 hours of peak-time breaks, trance, tech house and techno, recorded live in March 2025 at the Rio.
