OpenLab Live From Pikes 01/05/25 [with Mostwanted & Santacreu]

At last year’s Opening Party at Unsound Kraków, DJ E (aka Chuquimamani-Condori) showcased their distinct hyper-charged sound. Narrowing it down to genres is pretty impossible, but there are fragments of Andean folk, cumbia and country music ballads, often carefully layered with a bunch of soundboard-effects. The result is a classic DJ E set. Many of the tracks played here were recently included in the almost 2-hour long collection Edits, which you can pick up on Chuquimamani-Condori’s Bandcamp page.

The first thing you notice in Beau Beaumont’s Delayed with mix isn’t aggression or volume, but control. Each layer slots into place with a clarity that leaves no room for drift. It’s techno in high resolution - grooves stretched to their limit, shifts measured with care, a ride that never collapses under its own weight.

That clarity comes from experience. Years spent running one of the UK’s most forward-thinking parties, building an independent label Meine Nacht, and diving into modular synthesis have sharpened Beau’s ear for pacing and design. Her work ranges from NTS residencies to commissions for Nike and the WDR Studio for Electronic Music. Still, it’s this same multidisciplinary edge that you hear here, surgical mixing, grooves that never stagnate, and a sense of movement that feels both human and machine. This is propulsion without fatigue: a set built to carry you, wherever you are.

Up next, an old mate from the neighborhood here in Brooklyn, Mr. @evvnmichael .  Evan's been a close friend for years and has been heavily involved in the music scene here in NYC, from Cameo Gallery (RIP) & Brooklyn Bass, to more recently his releases on the likes of Cascine and the newly launched Kaviar Disco Club imprint (check it out here!).  His productions are inspired by everything from disco, to techno, to house and boogie, so we asked him to throw together a mix for the series to see what he came up with.  

Some words (and a mix) from the man himself...

A big part of my production work flow centers around searching high and low for breaks, especially ones residing in Funk and Boogie LPs of the late 70s and early 80s. For this mixtape, I wanted to showcase a variety of what I'm usually listening to in second hand record stores, on youtube, and in the studio. Some of these songs I discovered a long time ago, others more recently. I'm also inspired by producers who've edited these elements and come out with something a bit more Techno in the process. There's a lot of organic bits in these sampling gems, like airy claps and reverb'd vocals and I enjoy all of it. I hope you do too.

Don't Lie To Your Mama (Afro House Mix)

Besides that we both share big love for "Pizza Pommes", Philipp Schultheis and I also always wanted to play an all-nighter together. 
So after a few meetings back and forth at our favourite Pizza places all over Europe, we finally found a date at our beloved Disco Zwei in Mannheim. 

So we're more than happy to share the recording of our set at Disco Zwei, Mannheim on June 9th here. It's a 5hours b2b, with a few old school bangers, new promos and some of our own jams. You can best enjoy this while eating a nice slice of pizza but also with any other fancy fast food ;-)
