🔹The origin of the term Hyperrealism (Hyperréalisme) can be traced back to 1973, when Isy Brachot coined for the first time as the title of a major exhibition and catalogue at his gallery in Brussels.

🔹Electronic composer Creshevsky has extended the term to the work of music, defining hyperrealism as “an electroacoustic musical language constructed from sounds that are found in our shared environment, handled in ways that are somehow exaggerated or excessive.”
Just as the acoustic palette includes the sonic results of a body of instrumental techniques, the expanded hyperreal palette incorporates the sonic results of the rest of the world - whether that means “natural” sounds (such as voices, birds, or wind), naturalized sounds (tire squeals, instruments, or footfalls), or adopted sounds (horns, cellphones, or electronic toms).

I imagine if the beating sun and condensation of the rain was not a thing, a majority of music studios would be out in the open. But, such is the case, the elements that keep musicians indoors and slaves to the seasons. For an East Coaster like Mike Swells, there are brutal winter happenings that make maximizing your time outdoors even more a feverish need. You see, Mike Swells is a summery guy, he knows to take stock as the rays start to hide. Un-phased by seasonal compression, Mike prepares for fall by bulk-uploading memories of another accomplished sweaty orbit, enough gathered to share-folder with followers to remind them of the warmth. Like a good musical friend, not all his recants will be cheery but certainly non-judgemental. Maybe that is why this mix feels so much like a season closer set... a flip through a freshly developed photo stack, so new, the double copies not yet delved out. Swells, the dj that can remind you: "nothing comes to an end as long as you can hold onto the feeling of it." The feeling of laying into a buddies chest as you watch golden colors crest out of nightfall, kings of the rave, holding all of sleeps calls until Monday. The feeling of the sun tattooing another freckle into your skin-map just to the right of your vogueing scar and around the corner from your bin-moving bruise. The flashback to the pebbles rustling under your car tires, a grumbling of sorts, like the campout site saying to you "Hey city slicker, welcome home, the trees almost forgot what you looked like." So, if you are a sucker for the dog days, as you ride these 70 mins of daylight savings, let them remind you of everything that made this one hotter than the last. When the blues start setting in, Mike and his mix will be sitting on this page all winter for that blast of vitamin D.
