We’ve been following Pîrvu’s path over the last couple of years. A journey made of harsh drums sounds, analog atmospheres, and deep pulsating bass tones, sounds that have been resonating in many clubs for the whole of Europe, making him one of the most promising future stars. Never afraid to relying on simple but effective 909 rhythmic patterns, the Bucharest talent always provides enchanting blissful synths and pads, often time in contrast with the raw sound that characterized the Romanian sound. After a stellar 2020, which saw him releasing on top-notch labels such as DeWalta’s “Meander” and Clovis’ “Understory” – not to mention his project The Apricots alongside Alexandra – we’re extremely happy to welcome Pîrvu on our podcast series for almost 2 hours of pure ear-pleasure vibes.

Delivering the goods for mix number 08 is talented producer and selector, COHN! 

COHN is a producer and DJ from London, who has released a number of records on Kitsune, Nervous Records, and recently a belting EP on Mister T records.

This mix was put together as a tribute to Disco from all over the world, incorporating songs from Egypt, India, Europe, and the US. He focused on bringing interesting vinyl releases over traditional House music that gives the set much more of a selector energy when compared to a long club mix. This speaks to the shows he's been playing recently and his shift away from traditional Dance music DJing, towards bringing vibes that are both exploratory and fun.

Born 1970 near Stuttgart, Germany. Started mixing and collecting records in 1985. After competing in various DJ battles (such as the DMC German Championships 1991) he had his first residency in a club in Stuttgart in 1991. During the 90's he was mostly known as a Hip Hop DJ/producer and as a member of chart topping Hip Hop band Freundeskreis. With Freundeskreis he released 2 gold selling studio albums, 1 live album and a best of album (FK 10 in 2007). Since 2000 he released 4 solo albums, made countless Remixes (The Jackson 5, Das EFX, The Pharcyde, Die Fantastischen Vier, Malente just to name a few) and his newer projects include Motor Mouth with Philip König and Bodymovin with DJ Thomilla and the Boogie/Funk project Ground Control. Nowadays he's mostly into Modern Funk, House, Electro- + Discofunk. As a kid growing up in the 70s and 80s his influences are Discofunk, Electrofunk, Boogie, Soul, Italo Disco, Hip Hop and House.

With a history in digging and an unquestionable love for music, Markus Lindner, a.k.a. Delfonic, is one of the most versatile and informed DJ as they come. He used to be the key character concerning music knowledge in Berlin. After a long decade at OYE records store he left the business to become a 100% touring DJ and also to do a series of Dance Jazz Edits (Illegal Jazz) which create a massive buzz in the new house and funky dance world (support from Gilles Peterson, Honey Dijon and many others).

Delfonic applies his broad knowledge of music styles to almost any setting, and is renowned for blending multiple genres, eras and disciplines throughout his sets. An open-minded talent, with an uncompromising approach to DJing, he employs a style schooled from an upbringing in hip-hop. Delfonic is the model DJ - he'll warm the crowd up, get them dancing and then provide the scope and context that will keep the heads on board.

Mit Franca’s „Reise durchs Regal“ präsentiere ich euch heute eine meiner absoluten Lieblingskünstlerinnen. Entdeckt habe ich Franca erst vor ca. 1 Jahr ... doch seitdem sind ihre Sets nicht mehr aus meinem Alltag wegzudenken. Besonders hervorzuheben sei hier das Fusion Tanzwüsten Set von 2016 und natürlich Kater Blau - Heinz Hopper Floor … was eine stimmungsvolle Reise.

Es war der Schulbusfahrer, der Franca mit elektronischer Musik anfixte – guter Mann. Das war 1996. 10 Jahre und einige Plattenkäufe später zog es die Münchenerin nach Köln, wo sie fester Bestandteil des Feines Tier-Rudels und WIR Schwestern-Kollektivs wurde. Wer die Dame einmal hinter den Reglern erleben durfte, spürt sofort, warum sie sich immer wieder die uneingeschränkte Aufmerksamkeit ihres Publikums erspielt: Sie ist der Crowd stets drei Platten voraus und legt House- und Technotunes in einer Mischung auf, welche ihresgleichen sucht. Franca ist ein begehrter Gast, aber kein bedrängter Star.

Aber auch als Producerin hat sich Franca schon einen Namen gemacht. Ihre erste Solo-EP „Epiphany“ auf meinem Lieblings-Label URSL hat gleich eingeschlagen wie eine Bombe. Auch hier wird wohl noch mehr zu hören sein … hoffentlich. 

Für sound(ge)cloud wollte Franca mal was anderes machen. Musik die auch auf dem Sofa funktioniert und das ist ihr mehr als gelungen. Seit einer Woche wohnt Franca nun im Amsterdam und beim Ausräumen ihres Platten-Regal kam ihr die Idee für den Mix … eine Reise durchs Regal zu machen. So entstand ein Mix aus alten und neuen Lieblingen und Fundstücken die eben in so einem Regal schlummern … entspannt, funky und doch mitreisend. Franca tausend Dank für diese unwiderstehliche Reise.
