Operator Picks - 2025

Mono Radio is all about music and the artists behind it. No fixed genres, just a flow of deep cuts and vibes. Each episode, we explore sounds with guest DJs, diving into their connection with MONO, their past, and future plans. 

This time, we feature Chuckie, the Surinamese-born, Netherlands-based pioneer behind the Dirty Dutch & Bubbling Beats sound. Known worldwide for his explosive mix of house, hip hop, and Latin influences, Chuckie rose to fame with tracks like Let the Bass Kick and high-profile collaborations with artists such as David Guetta and J Balvin. Despite his global reach, his sets remain raw, versatile, and deeply rooted in club culture. Joining him is his son, Yucky, a fresh voice in the new wave of Dutch selectors and producers. Yucky is moving in the underground, known for his bubbling edits, kuduro-inspired grooves, and genre-blurring sets. His sound is playful, bass-driven, and always looking forward. Together, they bridge two generations of club culture showing how energy, experimentation, and passion can take different shapes, yet still connect. Each artist delivers a 45–50 minute set, plus a short chat about MONO and their journey.

In her practice she builds soundscapes that remind you of a parallel universe where there is no distinction between (the bodies of) humans and technology. “Light and Shadow,” gets its name from a quote in Clarice Lispector’s novel “Near to the Wild Heart”: “Instead of obtaining myself by fleeing, I find myself forsaken, alone, tossed into a dimensionless cubicle, where light and shadow are quiet ghosts”. In that vein, “Light and Shadow,” is a sonic exploration and momentary acknowledgement of the ghosts that are sewn into the mist and fog of lonely Dutch mornings through light and dense ambient soundscapes, tracks that pierce with spoken word, and personal intimations interlaced with literature and cultural theory to ground the body, give dimensions to the cubicle of the mind. Ghosts, spectres, are all around us, but we move forward, we honour their non-presence with our presence – the grief is immense, but so is the joy.

DAYZ is a Rotterdam-based DJ with roots in Angola. Because of his strong connection with Africa, he likes to play African-related music. You can even count this 90's kid in for the best house, disco, 70's & 80's funk.
