Did someone order a piano banger? Black Hawks Of Panama debuts on Exploited with an absolute monster in the form of ‘Hurts’ that’s set to get pulses racing and fists pumping skyward, ready for the Ibiza season.

Supremely chunky ‘90s house beats with a gently distorted techno undertone pummel away underneath the phat bassline whose tone is perfectly balanced between weight and melodic overtones. Piano chords bang a jaunty, rave-influenced hook, and Bisi’s sweet vocals provide a sensual, soulful counterpoint. Little else is needed to make this track thump hard except subtle sustained strings and big cymbal crashes, and there’s an instrumental available which cuts to the meat of the track.

And who is Bisi? She’s better known as British actress Victoria Ekanoye, a woman of many talents who featured on Black Hawks’ previous single on Future Disco ‘Mercer Street’. She starred in the West End musical ‘The Lion King’, toured the US with ‘The Blues Brothers’ and fronted the show as Mistress of Ceremonies at both the London and New York infamous nightspot ‘The Box’. She takes her influences from blues, jazz, Stax-era soul and trip-hop.

“Our mutual friend Lisa Forshaw had worked as a PR for Victoria whilst she was on the nation's most popular TV show” says Black Hawks Of Panama. “Lisa got in touch with me and explained I should work with Victoria. Immediately I was struck with vocal range but also her presence as a performer. So I hired a commercial recording studio in Manchester as we didn’t know each other then and we agreed 'Feel For You' would be a great track to do as it’s a joint favourite! Although I didn’t want a carbon copy of the Chaka classic—I don’t see the point in that—I wanted something more lowdown and sultry! After a great first session we discussed Bowie, Prince and Patti Labelle, so it was pretty clear from this point this was going to work out well!!”

The Mancunian producer behind the track took his name from an inspirational time spent in Panama City and its surrounding rainforests. Born to parents who both had influential roles in the Manchester music scene of the 1970s and 80s, he has spent time living in Ibiza and DJed under another name for many years. Black Hawks of Panama is a project that’s going from strength to strength, and this hot new single looks set to break down yet more doors for him.

Whilst they have called Berlin their home since 2010, our own halls in Canning Town do not feel complete without the presence of @s_ruston. A relationship that began long before we welcomed our first guest; S Ruston has been with us every step of our journey, and now they return to play at RE:SISTANCE 004.

The Bristolian’s natural jungle & drum and bass roots shine through in their music; a sensory overload fully-stocked with rapid, bassy selections and interlaced with old school UK rave. These riotous performances are seen most commonly in the German capital’s sex-positive party scene, with residencies at femme-forward Lecken and clubs Renate and Else, yet they frequently take time to revisit our home in East London, with each occasion cherished.

Under the cover of his extra-terrestrial pseudonym, UFO95’s powerful rhythms are the culmination of a life lived around music in many forms. One could say he’s come full circle: as the son of parents who lived above the nightclub they owned and ran when he was younger. Adolescent forays in rock led him to study sound engineering, and eventually right back to the dancefloor, where he now plays exclusively live sets patchworked together from his own productions. From unorthodox beginnings, Killian Vaissade has more than grown into his role. UFO95 is his pandemic-era brainchild, a project that’s taken off at breakneck speed, collaborative works with Mama Told Ya label-boss Anetha, an appearance on Amniote Editions x Mala Junta’s VA compilation and the launch of his very own ARCHIVE imprint (June 2023) just a few of the feats he’s managed to pull off in his short career. Expect more to come in the form of driving, adamantine beats. Nausicaa is a dj from Katowice, who may be new to the scene, but her sets have already made waves in the Silesian underground. With a deep love for UK sounds, she blends high-energy UK garage and 2-step with heavy basslines and dubstep. Behind the decks, her infectious aura keeps the crowd locked on the dancefloor.
Nausicaa likes to play with the energy throughout her sets, and this mix captures that perfectly. Starting a bit slower and calmer, working her way up to faster and more bouncy tunes. ORAMICS 249: Nausicaa

Ochii is an active artist of the Kyiv scene who has been exploring electronic music as a separate driving phenomenon of culture for more than four years as an author, journalist and digger. During the observation of the Ukrainian electronic sphere, she was inspired to search for her own distinctive sound. This is how her sexy, sometimes melancholic, but at the same time serious DJ style with a penchant for old-school sound and the expression of deep emotions appeared and continues to emerge. This vibe is embodied by OCHII in an unlimited genre musical space from trance, acid and techno to progressive and electro in digital and vinyl sets.

The Data Molfar project is an eclectic project that combines various ethnic traditions in a future setting, through the image of a musical sorcerer, molfar. Someone who helps people, but to a greater extent protects the interests of nature and the laws of the surrounding world. Data Molfar's music is shamanism in data streams, where each track is a piece of the original code. His musical performance is a connection to cyberspace, where a reinterpreted occult ritual takes place. Intriguing tribal and rhythmic waves, the sounds of which echo through the mind. Raw drums, gloomy sci-fi electro and foggy ambient — all this intertwines into mystical action and altered consciousness.

A few words about mix:
This is a free embodiment of our vision of feminine energy in the moment, with flashes of a more aggressive and powerful sound. It does not limit the musical diversity of our vision, but reveals different sides of our manifestation.

Szczupakola is a DJ and selector from Poznań, a co-creator of a leftfield collective Polihymnia,  closely connected to Ślina club. She goes for a multigenre and experimental approach, which can be heard in her non obvious and contrasting sets. She moves around a heavy club drive and subtle sonic experiments with ease, creating a space for reflection and dance. Grime, dubstep, bass hybrids - in her mixes, there's no place for compromise.
